Hi Everyone,

I apologize that I've been so quiet on this subject.  I've been restricted by non-disclosure agreement and legal matters from speaking on the subject.  Thank you for all your great comments and feedback on the calculators.

There was a legal issue with the HP ROM code for the calculators.  As a result, I've had to remove it from the source-code repository for this project.  The good news is that an agreement has been reached and the calculators will be released in the AppStore.  Unfortunately, they will not be free, and they won't be called HP-15c, etc. for obvious reasons.  Keep you're eyes open.  I think they'll be reasonably priced and appearing soon.

I know how disappointing this is to those of you that were counting on them being released for free as I had previously promised.  I have to apologize for making that promise as it was something I couldn't deliver.  To try to make it up to you, I will be releasing a free RPN calculator in the style of these HP calculators that has the same functionality of the Apple-provided scientific calculator.  I hope this helps.

One thing I forgot to add.

Anyone that gave a paypal donation that is not happy with the fact
that the calculators will not be free when they appear on the app
store, please email me. I'd be happy to look up your donation in
paypal and provide a refund.

Will there be a 12c type version released? And when can we expect
release of your apps?

Yes I suspected that the ROM License would be an issue. I for one am
certainly happy to pay for the licence for a 15c & 16c versions on my
iPhone, the app for a good calculator (and that to me is of course
RPN) I see is essential to make the iPhone as a true standalone device
for travel without having to drag along a laptop.

Is there any interest in development effort to make them also a
dashboard widget under OSx, I would be interested in joining in on
that initiative ?

Of course the ULTIMATE would be of course a HP48 or later era calc
version... Dont see much ging on in hpcalc.org on that.I do love my
HP49G+ & my new HP50G but is takes up more space than my Macbook Air
in my backpack.

I'm happy to pay for the calc's. I couldn't believe they sere free in
the first place.
While joining this group I saw a HP41 may be delivered. That would be
great. I still
use one every day.
thanks for all the work.

Will you release HP 12c with the Platinum features (undo, erase,
etc.)?

Thanks.

I am also very much interested in a *financial* rpn claculator. Are
you planning to release one on the App Store or just a regular RPN
calc?

Thanks for your help

Tomfors,

I hate to sound impatient, but you have not updated us on the
availability and status of the apps ....on the app store. Could you
please provide an update of your efforts? I would really like to get
your HP15C and am checking the app store every day, but nothing.....

Please let us know what is going on.

Thanks!

Hello,

I'm waiting too for an HP 12c I lost when I updated the firmware....
What about releasing your HP xxc calculators for 2.0 pwned firmwares ?
since Modmyiphone is available through Cydia ;)

Thanks for your reply :)

I am also impatiently waiting for the HP 12C on the App Store.
Can you at least tell us what name it will be under?

Also, would it be possible to replace the new non-HP images after
installation to restore the look of the 1.0.6 version on a 2.0 iPhone?

Tom,

I am also patiently waiting. I really need to upgrade to 2.0, but I
can't simply because the HP-12c isn't compatible (yet). Joachim makes
a very good point about being able to replace the new, non-hp logo
with the hp-12c logo so it looks and feels like 1.0.6.

If you release via Cydia for pwned firmwares, that would be fine also.

Thanks,
Phillip

Hi again,

I'm sorry for the lack of information and delays in getting the calculators to appear in the AppStore.  I know you're frustrated.  I'm just as frustrated, but I think it's best that I don't make any comments on the process at this point.

Tom,

Thanks for at least giving us a response. I just feel better knowing
that you are reading our inputs. I can't say it enough times, I am
very much looking forward to getting the 15C equivalent running on my
iPhone 3G. I have downloaded some of the calcs that are now available
on the app store with complete and utter dissappointment.

Thanks,
Roy

I am really looking forward to using the 16C on the iPhone. If you
can't comment on the process, could you comment on the name of the
app, so at least I know what to search for?

Thanks very much for your efforts.

Thanks for the update Thomas,

I would imagine that the delay is due to the review process at Apple
that every
app has to go through, and I can be the queue is long. Can you at
least tell
us in which category the calculators will be listed? I am guessing in
Utilities
with I can see the HP 12c being listed in the Business category too.

So, what's the holdup? I've seen a 25MB+ application updated twice in
the past two weeks, and we've been waiting for over a month. Has the
app been denied?

It was up last night for me. Upgrade went ok but resulting binary
didn't run. Uninstalled and reinstalled, and now 2.0.1 works fine.

Are you talking about being up at the Apple App Store, or are you
posting in the wrong thread?

Just an idea - why doesn't Tom approach HP and offer to give them say
25-33%% of whatever he can charge at the App store as a license fee.
That way HP will be happy and probably consent to Apple having it on
the Appstore. Apple will take 30% and Tom can get the rest. With the
quality of his calculators I think Tom can charge at least what the
calculator 12 goes for and everyone is a winner.

There has to be some other issue going on here. Have you guys noticed
all the other HP RPN emulators on iTunes? A faithful 41 emulator just
came out a couple of days ago. I hope Tom smooths out whatever issue
is really going on.
