In addition to the denotation of "I want nothing else", just want often has the implication or connotation that what is wanted is not a big deal, or is not a cause for concern, etc. There can be, indeed, a sort of diminishing involved.

But sometimes just want carries the implication of "it is only fitting and proper" or that what is being said is heartfelt, that the speaker is expressing humility or deference. That is where the diminishing comes into the picture.

I Just Want

I think this is why we see this word used often in prayers and commencement speeches; people are humbled by all they have been given, and they just want to express their heartfelt gratitude.

The OED lists 4 main senses in current use, 2 obsolete senses, 11 phrases, 2 compounds. All of them derive from the adj. 'just' from Latin 'iustus' ("lawful") but, since English had the separate word 'justly' that feels more appropriate for all the "lawfully" and "appropriately" senses, the adv. 'just' came to focus on the sense meaning "exactly" or, concerning verbs in the past tense, "almost exactly before".

Largely it is used where people are praying spontaneously and as such, it's an cliche which doesn't mean much, but allows you to start talking without quite having finished thinking - it's better to start with 'Lord, I just ...' rather than 'erm,....'

"Just" in this case is a synonym for "only" - you'll find that simply replacing "just" with "only" will illustrate that there is no difference in meaning, though there is a difference in connotation in that it minimizes the issue.

On a side note, I frequently call out small children on the idea of using the word "just" when they get caught doing something they shouldn't be, and then I hear their response: "I was just...(doing whatever)" (as if it wasn't a big deal). I tell them that they aren't allowed to use "just" to (ahem) justify their bad behavior, and then they realize it was wrong.

To me, nothing is less motivating (or more distracting!) than social media. For the love of God, stop opening up a separate page just for Facebook and continuously refreshing your Instagram feed on your phone. All of that content will still be there when your to-do list is done, I promise.

In July 1984 New World announced they would make a film inspired by Cyndi Lauper's hit song "Girls Just Want to Have Fun". The company bought the rights to the original 1979 song and title from songwriter Robert Hazard's publishing company, but Lauper said she did not want to appear in the film and refused to allow her version to be used.[1] The filmmakers were not allowed to use the changes that Lauper made to the song, including the addition of several lyrics.[8]

Helen Hunt said "They were looking for Goldie (Hawn) types when I was called in. But the director (Alan Metter) pulled me aside and said, `Sarah would kill to work with you.' It was really cool. Because I knew she wanted me to do the role, I felt I had the support to overcome my Sarah Lawrence looks."[10]

I saw some clips of the modern warfare campaign today and thought it looked really cool so I decided give it a play through. So I hopped on steam and it was on sale. Great!! I bought it and then went to download it and it says it is 220gb?? Wtf? The store page said 175. I did some googling and found out that you are downloading mw and warzone. Is there any way for me to just download mw? If not will it at least be warzone 2.0? Or will I be stuck on the old warzone?

Insurance was also a barrier for women. Particularly, participants discussed being discriminated against based on their insurance type. This is a common experience among women who receive Medicaid or other forms of public insurance. Previous qualitative studies of women of color also documented that those with public insurance felt that their insurance type contributed to the negative and differential treatment they received from health care providers.14 In addition, a study found that women with public health insurance reported having less control over their maternity care experience compared with women with commercial insurance. This included having less choice of prenatal provider (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 1.61 95%C.I. 1.20, 2.17), or being able to have a vaginal birth after cesarean (AOR 2.93 95%C.I. 1.49, 5.73). Furthermore, the study concluded that women with public insurance were less likely to be encouraged by staff to make their own decisions (AOR 0.63 95%C.I. 0.47, 0.85).32 These findings reflect the narratives heard in the present study. Future interventions should aim to improve the care, specifically for women who receive public insurance and close the gap in quality of care based on insurance type.

The first category of people-youth who were under age 18 at the time of their crimes-benefited from a dramatic shift in public awareness and jurisprudence about adolescent development. California legislation, along with national and state court rulings, began to recognize the inherent injustice of sentencing children to LWOP and moved the state towards eliminating the sentence for this young demographic.23

These findings align with extensive research on recidivism rates that suggest people convicted of homicide and other crimes categorized as violent are unlikely to reoffend after release from long-term imprisonment.42 For instance, according to a 2022 report from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), only two percent of individuals who were released from California correctional facilities following completion of a life with the possibility of parole sentence in fiscal year 2017-2018 were convicted of a new crime within three years of their release.43 Similar data from the US Bureau of Justice Statistics corroborate these findings,44 along with a recent study conducted by Montclair State University that found a recidivism rate of just 1.14 percent among juveniles sentenced to life without parole in Philadelphia.45

Throughout the course of the interviews, some respondents described hardships they have encountered since release from prison.102 Covid-19 restrictions and limitations made a number of respondents feel like they were in prison again, especially when it came to being separated from their families. By the same token, they cited the resilience gained from their time in prison as making it easier for them to adjust.103 Some who were released during the pandemic even found that the slowness of life during Covid-19 shutdowns made it easier to acclimate and adjust to life outside. About one in four respondents said that Covid-19 restrictions have impacted their ability to be involved in the community.

This craving for numbness is a common justification for drinking. But the greater the numbness, the greater the price we pay. With regular alcohol use, you need increasing amounts to achieve the same level of numbness and we all know where that leads.

free dl on bandcamp: -just-want-youwell here it is! my first original. holy shit... i am so thrilled (and terrified) to finally be releasing this song!! i wrote "I Just Want You" at the end of last spring; it's a song about a girl who means a lot to me, and how i felt when i met her for the first time. if you know me well, you know that i've been writing songs ever since i started making garageband beats in middle school... now that i am about to graduate college in the spring, it feels right to finally put myself out there as a singer and songwriter in addition to being a producer and dj! this isn't a perfect song by any means, but it absolutely means the world to me and i really hope it will mean the world to some of you, too.special thanks to kevin chapman for lending me his mastering talents, and to jeff sontag for lending me his studio and helping me record my vocals- you guys are the greatest.recommended: drive to the ocean with somebody you care about and play this song as loud as you can with the windows down
