Hello J,
Formulaic has a few settings you can adjust, and that includes one to
change the number of significant digits displayed in results. You can
access the settings from the main iPhone settings page - just scroll
down until you find "Formulaic" settings, and then adjust the
"Variable Precision" slider to the right. The maximum setting will
increase the number of digits displayed to 10 (from the default 6).
The design of Formulaic aims to balance several objectives, such as
adoption of Apple user interface guidelines, use of standard iPhone OS
"widgets" (e.g. input fields and buttons), breadth and depth of solver
functionality, mathematical accuracy and several others. By default,
Formulaic display six significant digits for variable values and
results. Given the numerical methods used to solve equations for any
of its variables, six digits is consistent with the accuracy of the
solutions found: they should be accurate to at least six digits.
Displaying more digits may lead to the displayed result not being
rounded correctly. Depending on the complexity of an equation, this
could lead to a misleading result being displayed (e.g. you may expect
1200300, but if the display format is set to 9 digits, the solution
might be displayed as 1200299.97).
Because of the potential side-effects of possibly displaying more
digits of accuracy than the number to which the result was computed,
we recommend leaving the setting at its default value, but if you
really want, this is where to change it.
Kind regards,
Hoy Moon
