We hope that our readers will get The Higher Taste and Stay High Forever and this is possible only by the incomparable mercy of pure devotees of the Lord who are of The Highest Order. And among the highest of such devotees is Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada. Today i.e. 7th of February 2007 is his divine appearance day.
On the fifth day of the dark lunar fortnight of the month of Govinda [corresponding to February 6th, 1874 A.D. by the western calendar], at 3:30 in the afternoon, Bimala Prasad Datta, later to be known as Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, made his appearance in Purusottama Ksetra [Jagannatha Puri] in the state of Orissa, not far from the temple of Lord Jagannatha. He was the fourth son of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and Sriyukta Bhagavati Devi. For purposes of propagating Gaudiya Vaisnavism throughout India, he organized the Gaudiya Math, with sixty-four branches throughout the country. The headquarters of his mission, Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math, is located in Sridham Mayapur, the birthplace of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Throughout the 1930s, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta expanded and increased his missionary work and succeeded in reestablishing Gaudiya Vaisnavism as the leading force in Indian spiritual life. He produced, as his disciple, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, who brought this great science of self-realization on his order to the world.
On January 1, 1937, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura passed from this world.
We submit this issue of The Higher Taste unto his lotus feet so that he blesses us and all our dear readers to relish The Higher Taste and Stay High Forever!!!
