Facebook keeps 45% of ad-break revenue for content shown on Facebook Watch, while its content-producing partners receive 55% of ad revenue.[4] In January 2017, the company announced that it would be adding "mid-roll" advertising to its videos, in which ads will appear in videos after users have watched at least 20 seconds.[14] In December 2017, Ad Age reported that Facebook was lifting a long-time ban on "pre-roll" ads, an advertising format that shows promotional content before users start the actual video. Facebook had resisted using pre-roll ads because the format has a "reputation for annoying viewers" who want to get to the desired content, though the report stated that the company would nevertheless try the format.

As there isn't an app for your Roku, you'll have to watch via screen mirroring from your mobile phone or tablet. Once both your device and Roku are on the same network, on the Roku, go to Settings > System > Screen Mirroring > select your device under Allowed devices. Now, launch the Facebook app.

Opened up FB today to find that the watch icon from my shortcuts bar gone. When I go into my settings and try to pin the shortcut, watch is not listed under available or hidden shortcuts. Tried logging out, rebooting phone, clearing cache and clearing data to no avail. Anybody have any ideas?

EDIT* After a couple weeks of no watch tab at all, and multiple complaints to FB with zero response, it just reappeared today when I went to check FB on my lunch break. No explanation at all. So bizarre.

Hello, today I changed my watch from Apple Watch 5 to Apple Watch ultra and since I started using it, I don't have the FB Messenger app, I can use it on my previous watch, what happened? how to fix it?

Hmmm - you'll need the app installed/configured on your phone. Then you can enable the app to get installed on your Watch. I have the latest (412.0) which syncs between my phone and watch just fine. I hadn't realized the product might be short-lived, I've transitioned most of my Messenger-like tasks to WhatsApp which works great on phone/watch...

You're misdirecting your angst. This was Facebooks decision, not Apple's. Complain to Facebook. You'll still, by the way, be able to get Notifications on your watch. You just won't be able to open messages or reply on your watch. And let's be honest. Typing on the tiny keyboard on Apple Watch, when you likely have your iPhone nearby just shouldn't be a significant issue.

You do, by the way, have 14 days from date of purchase to return the watch. Before you do, you better check with Facebook to see if they provide support for Messenger on any other brand watch. I'd be surprised if they do.

Messenger (FB Messenger)? You can install apps onto the watch via the Watch app on your phone. Once installed it should work. You can confirm the presence of the app on the watch by scrolling through your list of installed apps directly via the device.

Thank you for your response. My problem is that the messenger app is not syncing with my AWU2. The messenger was installed in my iPhone but not available in my watch. That's the reason why I'm.not receiving notification.

Facebook Watch Party is a feature that lets people watch and comment on Facebook videos at the same time from separate locations, creating a coviewing experience. So instead of sending that funny cat video you saw on Facebook to your group chat, you can actually invite people to watch it together and react in real time.

Facebook shouldn't be trying to displace YouTube for free online videos. It's built an audience of 1.8 billion users watching an average of one hour per day on mobile alone. If Facebook can get just 5% of that engagement across its 617 million user base in North America and Europe, it can break even on that $1 billion content budget, according to an analysis from Morgan Stanley's Brian Nowak.

Have you ever started watching a video, become engaged just enough to want to see how it ends, but not completely engrossed? Or, maybe a video catches your eye in the news feed, but you came to Facebook with a specific purpose. Lucky for you, Facebook has made video multitasking much easier.

Creating serial content that users will want to return to is now a big opportunity for publishers. Just as Netflix allows for binge-watching a favorite show, Facebook is opening the door for publishers to create engaging content that viewers will crave.

ChatterBlast Media found that sound-off videos tend to perform much better than sound-on videos. People are much more likely to watch a video to completion with the sound off. This stays true regardless of the advertising objective.

When Zuckerberg was asked about video strategy, he explained how people watch a lot of video content on the Facebook News Feed. According to the Facebook founder, this was "displacing" the core of the service: social interactions and connecting with other users. Watch, he said, was built to give users a centralized place on the platform to watch video.

The feature is called Watch Party, and the social network is testing it now. To begin, a Facebook Group admin or moderator chooses videos for viewing and posts them. Videos can be live or on-demand. Members see the videos playing in the Group page, with everyone watching the same video at the same time. Viewers interact through text comments which appear on the right side of the page in desktop view and over the video in mobile view. Group members are also able to see the video playlist so they know what to expect.
