I wrote this some MONTHS ago, still no fix, since iOS 4.0 there is a
bug in swipe to delete, the App stucks and does not update the
Application List as well, i reported this to John MONTHS ago, i asked
again some weeks ago but there was neither a fix or a reaction on this
issue, i suggested to turn off Backgrounding on Howl, while it does
not need it and it causes the most Problems i saw on other Apps, this
should not be a big deal to turn off backgrounding on an iOS App so i
hope this might be fixed soon, i also requested the Next/Previous
Feature on iPhone while browsing the Notifications, this was also done
MONTHS ago, still no reaction:

Well i do not understand why Prowl is so much forward in the
Rankings , Howl is the more advanced App for Grwl, but maybe it is
kust related to the point that Prowl just works and you do not need to
worry about any fixes or waiting for a support answer never
arriving...

very pitty and very sad, i like Howl a lot but untill Howl does not
start to add some More Value Stuff to it, it will stay an unknown
alternative for Prowl, not a replacement....

In case it helps the developer, I haven't had any problem with apps
running in the background on my iPhone, and swipe-to-delete works just
fine over here.
