Hi all, i wrote a Safari 5 Toolbar Extension to push thge current URL
of a Page to Howl for later review under Mobile Safari on the go, for
further Details and for Screenshots as well as the Download visit
http://web.me.com/fa.sander/desktop/blog/Entries/2011/1/21_Howl_Push_Extension.html
, you just need to setup your Howl Logins in the settings and click
the Button, and it works for bith, iPhone and iPad, or any other iOS
Device Howl is running on.
Plz leave a comment or bug reports on the desired Page so i can care
about them, thx in advance

Wow, that's really awesome! Great idea, thanks for making this! I'm
definitely going to use this.

So far it seems to be working splendidly. Thanks for a really useful
little bit of code! I'll let you know if you have any issues with it.

I've installed Howl for Safari but it doesn't push. I added my username and password, which I have verified working in Growl Preferences, but there doesn't seem to be a "Save" button or any way to confirm it in the extension preferences in Safari, so I'm not sure that it is picking up the credentials, however, when I click the howl button next to the address bar it does nothing.

Thoughts anyone?

I had to disable it - I noticed sometimes links weren't clickable
anymore (mostly on Facebook), and the problem immediately went away
when disabling the extension.

Never actually sent any URLs, so I can't confirm if the extension
works. I do like the idea, though.

OK I'm getting a pretty weird bug. There's an area in the middle of my
safari window that won't let me click on links or see mouseovers.
Occasionally if I click and drag from this invisible area it's
actually showing me dragging the howl/safari logo you use for the
plugin. I think it has to do with the "URL Was Sent" popup sort of
hanging around in invisible form while the plugin is enabled. I'll
send you a screenshot to your email.

Agreed. I have not gotten this to work. I do now see the large grey box on the Mac when I click the Safari button to push the url, yet nothing in Howl on my iPad.

Prowl has a similar extension. Works great. Asks for an API key rather than a user name and password.

I'll keep trying different things, but nothing works yet.

I'm seeing the same thing Raygan described. I disabled the extension
for now.

I've noticed this too. Facebook is especially troublesome. Facebook Photo Zoom extension was sketchy and I couldn't click into text boxes to type comments. Disabled Howl Push, and it is back to normal.

Just trying to help ;)

Ok Guys, sorry for the delay but this regards to the time zone
difference for me and you, i updated the Extension to Version 1.1, it
should appear in the Updates, if not, let me know and redownload it
from the Page, it should fix the overlay issue on Facebook and all
other Pages, regarding the "Does Nothing", i have no idea why this
appears, maybe you have any Javascript disabled or anything is
blocking connections for your Safari, do not forget: Javascript is
needed for nearly all Extensions so if you have turned it off this
might not work ...

Plz let me know if the new Version does not appear on the Update
Section, and regarding the Save Button: Safari does not need to Save
any settings, this behaviour is reserverd for Winndows Machines, in
Safari you type in, close the settings and everything is saved kive as
you type ^^

Now running v1.1. Seems to have fixed the Facebook issue, however, for me, I am still not seeing anything appear on my iPad.

Could it be because I am using the same username and password for Prowl?

No, basically Prowl and Howl are 2 different things, they are both
different Systems with different APIs, so this does not matter if you
have both with the same credentials, i don't think this could be a
reason but if you also have the Prowl Safari Extension installed, turn
it off for testing and try again just with Howl, it should work,,
basically if nothing happems inthe Extension it nearly always means
there was an error in the Howl API Request, i saw this while testing
the Extension, so there is bno error reporting included at the moment,
but if the Request to Howl fails, nothing happens, and while you only
need to setup the Username and Password, there is nothing the
Extension could do wrong i hope, an issue could cause this would be if
the characters in you Browser use a special KeyCode like UDF or
anything in this manner, well UDF-8 should work good, if not, let me
know which Keycode you use i can try to track the error down, or if
you like send me a mail at atxx [at] me.com so i can try to send you a
special Extension version to determine the error or why you receive an
API Error, maybe we can track the error this way...the steps to figure
it out i would send you as well...
