At long last, the PERC appointed factfinder's report is out and available for public review.  You can find it by going to the district website, www.howell.k12.nj.us, click on the district calendar, then click on today's meeting date, June 5, then you will find a link to Factfinder's Report, or click or copy and past the link below in your address bar:

It is 39 pages long but a very quick read.  In my opinion, it is extremely well-written and the factfinder did an amazingly thorough job, giving much consideration to each proposal by both parties, to their respective objections to the others' proposals, and to the financial impact of each proposal as well.

Interestingly, the factfinder points out that both parties recognize, as stated in my earlier email, that the current salary guide structure needs to be reworked because both submitted their own suggestions for adding steps to the guide.  The board suggested increasing the steps from 14 to 30, while the union suggested expanding it to 20 steps.

I am still digesting the report but wanted to get an email off to you all and urge you to read it for yourself before you come to tonight's meeting to see if/how the board acts on the report.
