Hello HAL Members,
Our next HAL general meeting is coming up this Thursday, November 13th.   We have two speakers this month... Wes Ferwerda, one of our HAL Discord group members will speak about some of the fundamental camera concepts related to Astrophotography and former HAL club president Chris Todd will talk about the ins and outs of remote imaging in a talk titled... "So you want to do remote astrophotography?"

We'll also cover our regular club agenda items discussing upcoming club events, book of the month, current shallow sky highlights, etc.  As usual, the meeting will be held at 7:00 pm at the Robinson Nature Center, in Columbia, Maryland and on Zoom (see meeting link info below).

Also, if you’ve managed to get out and do imaging or sketching of some the wonders of our night sky and would like to share at this month’s meeting, please send your astro-images, sketches, artwork, etc., via email to: vcs...@yahoo.com (please do not reply-all to this email).

Another reminder... be sure to tune in to Maryland Public Television at 7:30 pm this Tuesday, the 11th, for a segment on HAL and amateur astronomy in Maryland.   Here's the link to the Outdoors Maryland site announcing the show and Here's a link to a Promo on YouTube.

Hope to see you in person or online this Thursday.  Thank you and clear skies,

Victor
HAL President

Hello Victor:

Watched the MPT segment on HAL and I must say you did an excellent job of explaining the hobby of amature astronomy! BTW, where did you go for that dark sky park (you mentioned its a Bortle 3 area)? I think I heard 'Wolf Run state park', is that correct? If so where is it please?

'Clear skies'

Thanks ,
Sundar Raghavachari.

Thanks for the nice words everyone.   Any kudos should really  go to the producer/editor, Andrew Paterson who did a great job of assembling 8 coherent minutes from a LOT of footage.

Sundar, Wolf Den Run State park is in Western, Maryland, kinda near Deep Creek Lake.  Very dark, but often cloudy, so be sure to vet the weather forecast thoroughly beforehand if you decide to head out.

Cheers,

Victor
