Hello HAL Members,

Happy spring! The weather is getting warmer and it can be ideal for galaxy gazing and giving the winter gems one more view before bidding them goodbye. It’s always nice to see the Orion Nebula without wearing a parka!

This coming Thursday, April 9th, is our Members Meeting at the Robinson Nature Center starting at 7 pm. Of course, you can also join the meeting via the Zoom link that you’ll find below. The topic this month for our meeting is “Dark Sky Experiences” where four of your fellow HAL members will be talking about trips that they have made to some wonderfully dark skies. With the governor issuing a proclamation declaring April 13-20 as International Dark Sky Week we’ll also touch upon some handouts from Dark Sky International on effective lighting choices.

We will have Book of the Month and Shallow Skies segments, and if you have any astro photos or sketches that you would like to share please send them directly to me at j...@tomney.com no later than Wednesday evening to be included in the meeting. A couple notes about the object are also helpful, especially if you may not be able to attend.

Thanks – looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting this Thursday!
