Hello HAL Members,
Our next HAL
general meeting is coming up this Thursday. Our speaker will be Guy Brandenburg, the president of
National Capitol Astronomers, who will talk about amateur telescope making. In his presentation, titled "Looking Back at A Century of Innovation in Amateur Telescope
Making — Is It Still Worth It?” Guy will describe and show the basic steps in crafting parabolic mirrors and will show off some home-made Dobsonian telescopes as well as cover other telescope making topics.
We'll also cover our regular club agenda items discussing
upcoming club events, book of the month, current shallow sky highlights, etc. As usual, the meeting will be held at 7:00 pm at the
Robinson Nature Center, in Columbia, Maryland and on Zoom (see meeting link info below).
Also, if you’ve managed to get out and do imaging or sketching of some the wonders of our night sky and would like to share at this month’s meeting, please send your astro-images, sketches, artwork, etc.,
via email to: vcs...@yahoo.com (please
do not reply-all to this email).
Hope to see you in person or online this Thursday. Thank you and clear skies,
Victor
HAL President
