I'm eagerly awaiting some real astrophotographs from last night's lunar eclipse, but in the meantime here is a picture I took from my driveway with my cellphone.  It was well worth getting out of bed for!

Here a shot I got from my driveway in Columbia.  It is the average of 3 exposures, each 1/5sec, F5.6, ISO 12800, and 250mm focal length, taken just after 2:30am EDT; this is a 40% reduction of the full-size image.  They were handheld images, braced against my house for stability.  Not the greatest image, but it was fun to see the eclipse for a few minutes!

Hi All,

From Severn’s Bortle 7/8 skies! Resolution was reduced to meet email 8mb limit.

Times:  1022p,  2:22a2:27a2:37a

By my estimation totality occurred at 2:27a, but it’s really difficult say the exact moment.

Last picture is blurry due to long exposure time and cloud cover. Better something than nothing.

Wow – I am amazed. I set up in my yard in Towson and the high clouds slowly advanced and thickened until no Moon was by the start of totality. Went inside to put my feet up and peeked out again a little after 3am, same situation so I called it a night. Glad that so many other places had clear enough conditions to take in totality!

Here is one I got from my front yard in Mount Airy. This is with an asi533mc and a 150mm Newtonian - a single 2 second exposure at gain 100 captured with sharp cap.
Used PixInsight to debayer, stretch and curves.

I might reprocess it later as I did this at 3:30 and was quite tired .

Decided not to take a chance and drove out and spent the night in West Virginia. Only processed one image off the camera last night and just got back home. Will be processing the rest hopefully over the weekend, but here ya go…

Very nice James. I’m glad you decided to go out. I was hoping here in PA I could image but we got clouded out.
