I am excited to announce that this Saturday Night, HAL will be hosting a Virtual Star Party. Gene Handler  is coordinating the "Backyard Astronomers". I would also like to thank Gene for initiating this event. If you have the capabilities to run your system outside with very good internet connectivity and would like to be a volunteer backyard astronomer, please contact Gene directly at ghan...@verizon.net. Please do not reply to all from this email.

Here is how it works:
Link-in using the Zoom information below.
You can join anytime beginning at 8:00PM EST and come and go as you please until the event ends.
As our volunteer backyard astronomers have objects to show you, they will share their screens. You will be able to make requests for objects that are currently in view that night. I encourage you to use a sky chart or online program such as Stellarium or other apps so you will know what is visible at any point in time. Not necessary however. You will see how images are captured and some of the tools used. We have been very successful with virtual star parties in the past, and if the weather cooperates we will have another great night. It is very interactive and lots of conversations take place. Most importantly, it is fun.

I will be driving the Zoom and look forward to seeing you enjoying the views from the warmth of your home.

Great! Looking forward to it!
By the way, the second session of the Kalamazoo course was last Sat. Very good, talked about learning the sky with the naked eye - constellations, asterisms, meteors, and (just in time) how to use sky charts and planispheres (have to get me one of those)
