At about 3 p.m. ET this afternoon the slender crescent Moon will slide across and cover up Jupiter for a little over an hour. Although it will be daylight, Jupiter is bright enough that you can pick it up in a telescope or perhaps even in binoculars. If you own a red filter, using it will make it easier to spot as it will darken the bright blue sky. The duo will be in the west about 35° high.
