Hi everyone,
There was a discrepancy in the Shallow Skies slide this evening talking about the upcoming occultation of Venus by the Moon. The event will occur on the afternoon of June 17th (this coming Wednesday). The disappearance, as listed on the Lunar Occultations website (http://lunar-occultations.com/iota/bstar/0617venus.htm), is for 3:49 p.m., but in using planetarium software that may be when the last bit of the planet is covered up. I’d suggest starting your observing at 3:30 p.m. to ensure you do not miss it. Same thing for the re-emergence slated for 5:11 p.m., begin looking for Venus to pop out above M. Crisium a few minutes before that.
