Occupational Therapist – Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders team

 

Occupation/Series/Grade: Occupational Therapist/0631/GS-12 (2 positions)

Closing Date:9/27/2023

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 0800-1630

Telework: No

Location: 1700 N Wheeling St, Aurora, CO 80045

State Date: 10/10/23 (can be negotiated)

Duration: Not to exceed 120 days

SUPERVISORY APPROVAL:  Required

Travel & Lodging: approved within VHA

 

ANNOUNCEMENT: The Eastern Colorado Health Care System is looking for a well-qualified candidate to serve in a temporary promotion or detail NTE 120 days.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Inpatient assessments using advanced specialized evaluation, interventions, and services to independently develop treatment strategies for specialty populations (specifically, SCI/D patient population with primary diagnoses of spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and/or ALS).
  • Develop and carry out treatment plans to meet an individual’s rehabilitation needs and objectives.
  • Develop plans with patient and significant others (when appropriate), coordinates with the multidisciplinary team, and establishes treatment goals.
  • Initiates ordering, delivery, and training in the use of patient specific adaptive equipment.
  • Effectively communicates with interdisciplinary team members, peers, and supervisor for patients’ rehabilitation status and any barriers for discharge from inpatient.

 

TEMPORARY Detail NTE 120 DAYS: This opportunity will require the applicant to meet the below condition of employment to qualify for a temporary detail.

A. Time-In-Grade Requirement: May be applicable

B. Specialized Experience: While not required for an applicant to meet for a Temporary Detail, the specialized experience is as follows:

    • At minimum 1 year of clinical Occupational Therapy experience

Preferred Experience/Certification:

    • Inpatient experience
    • Interdisciplinary team experience
    • Participation with patient and family conferences
    • 2 or more years of experience working with patients with SCI/D diagnoses for ≥30% of full-time patient caseload

You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Years of experience as Occupational Therapist

Spinal Cord Injury Experience

Collaborative team experience
