Dear Scholars,

Elaine passed on the cat resume she mentioned in class and a worksheet for those of you who want to take your business ideas further. I realized I never pitched my business idea last night:

It's the social media consulting business I've been running since my Junior year. I charge $35 an hour for consultations on everything from Search Engine Optimization, to tool integration, to blog design. To set up a small website using Joomla or Wordpress, I charge $200 and $35 for every hour of maintenance and consultation thereafter. I set my rates based on my skill as compared to the work others in Silicon Valley are doing, as advertised on Craigslist.

Anyway, I'll see you all Wednesday at 6:30pm. Due next week is one complete job application, uploaded by 6:30pm. Our topic will be "How to Write a Budget," helping you be ready to include a budget in you Friedman Fellowship, Opportunity Grant, or Google Policy Fellowship applications. Or, like, in life.

In pleasant news, I'm running a panel at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing November 9 - 12th, so we don't have class in 2 weeks. If you'd like to learn the topic ("Courting Recommenders") you are welcome to attend Chris Spark's Thursday night session from 6:30 - 8pm in Wean 5304.
