Dear people of Houthavens!

I sent several emails for the studio space some weeks ago. And one of them already contacted with professor Graafland. He will talk about it with Jacoby.

I pasted the email from the studio space below. Its in Dutch, just use google translate. It seems like a good offer. They already have internet and the space is for temporary projects so its perfectly fulfilling our expectations.

Hallo Arie Graafland,

Mijn naam is Johnny Kortlever en ik schrijf namens onze ateliersgemeenschap BLO Ateliers in Berlijn, of beter gezegd namens onze werkgroep Projektraum K22. We hebben jullie vraag via een bevriende ateliergemeenschap de Mengerzeile gekregen en het lijkt ons leuk jullie te kunnen ontvangen. We kunnen jullie onze projektruimte K22 aanbieden voor jullie projekt van 15 maart tot eind juli aanbieden. 

K22 is een nieuw iets in onze Ateliergemeenschap. Dit Atelier wordt vanaf December dit jaar als Projektruimte gebruikt voor Nationale en internationale gasten. Het plan is om het atelier gedurende een periode van minimaal 2,5 maanden te verhuren voor projekten met als afsluiting een presentatie in die ruimte. We hebben ook nog een grote ruimte te huur voor tentoonstellingen, presentaties of feesten, deze is 130 m² groot.

K22 is 56 m² groot, is op de begane grond, en bestaat uit 1 ruimte met een driekwart wand, waardoor de ruimte in een grote en een kleinere ruimte is ingedeeld. Maar desalniettemin heb gevoel van 1 grote ruimte geeft.  Er is Wlan toegang, de ruimte heeft stromend water. In hetzelfde gebouw hebben we heren en damestoiletten. Er is in het dames toilet ook een douche waar men tegen een spende warm douchen kan. De huur bedraagd 440 euro per maand. En de borg bedraagd 150 euro.

Blo Ateliers ligt direkt aan het s bahnstation Nöldnerplatz. Het is een groene oase midden in de stad. In de zomer kan men ook heerlijk buiten vertoefen. Ik kan later op de dag, of morgen ook nog een plattegrond van de ruimte sturen mochten jullie interesse hebben.

Hello everyone

News about the studio space in Berlin. DIA cannot pay for the studio space that we are in contact. I already sent you the email form them. You can check the location and conditions there.

It is only 25 euro that we have to pay per month for studio space thanks to financial contribution of professor Graafland.

I am sending you a word file with the email from professor also an excel file to fill.

We ll see the average points and ideas there. We can have a more concrete collective idea this way.

Please fill your part in the excel and send it back to me as soon as possible so that we can give an answer to studio space as well as the professor.

What is the main purpose of moving studio to Berlin?
Why I have to pay more by move and stay in Berlin if we gain a similar benefits of our study from here in Dessau?

Does K22 studio have Model cutting, Laser cutting, Plotter...?
In DIA, studio space is free of charge and we can learn from other students not only 14 students stay in K22, Berlin.

Since we all knew that we are going to move to Berlin, i assume that argument like "paying extra for moving is unnecessary" are not valid.
We all were informed half a year before and we all should be ready for that.

Paying 25 Euro per month for a studio is not much,
but if somebody cannot afford this, i think we can divide it among the others.

Staying in the same studio with all lazer cutting machines next door is not the only way of education and not the best one.
We all are abroad here, so we should use the opportunity to attend numerous lectures, discussions and exhibitions that are taking place in Berlin.
This the benefit for our education. I think it is more important than any room and any cutting machine.

yes exactly. and also theres not much in bauhaus library which we have already limited access.

and for the project sometimes it is necessary to research in library not only surfing in the internet. For eample TU Berlin has a library only for architecture. that is open to everybody. And we can even borrow books by prooving our address. and in dessau even though we are students of DIA and part of the library is also DIA's we cannot borrow books, everything closes early.

I dont think finding a place for printing or laser cutting is difficult in Berlin there must be plenty of them. Not only one shop that we have to depend on their machine or schedule during everybodys finals. And printing and cutting are just occasional. We will not do it everyday or week. 

On the other hand we can learn from the city in Berlin, With the exhibitions, panels, libraries, cinemas all the activities that are going on in the city. In dessau we will have only studio next semester. I know what we will do going to kaufland, coming to studio not even any lectures that we should attend. In my opinion this is not very inspiring and productive
