Dear All,

as we discussed before we are planning to make a book that presents the work of the studio. We aim to present the book at the final presentation at the beginning of July. The book brings together your research, the masterplans and also the architecture projects that you have developed for Amsterdam over the last year as well as the work of the studio of last year for Amsterdam-Noord. Thus, altogether, the book will provide an overview of Dessau projects for Amsterdam of the last two years.

To be able to finish everything in time we kindly ask you to send us the following materials before June 21:

Masterplan
1.     overview image masterplan
2.     plan (drawing) of masterplan topview (vector based)
3.     diagram explaining pinciples masterplan (vector based)
4.     short text (max. 200 words) explaining masterplan
5.     photo of model masterplan

Architecture
1.     overview image of building
2.     typical plan of  building (vector based)
3.     section of building (vector based)
4.     2-3 diagrams explaining main organizational principles of building (vector based)
5.     2-4 rendered images (or photos of model) showing experience of building
6.     photo of model of building
7.     short text (max. 200 words) explaining achitecture

Other
1.     Portrait photo (for each student)
2.     Photos showing studio at work

Please organize 3 files in folders, indicating the topic above. So like:

Masterplan
Architecture
Other

Within these folders, name the files matching the titles as we have written here above. So like:

1_overview image masterplan
2_plan of masterplan topview
3_diagram principles masterplan
etc.

When there are more images per topic, just give each filename an extension in the way of a number. So like:

4_diagram organizational principles_1
4_diagram organizational principles_2
etc.

Please follow these instructions! We are producing this book in our own time, so we it is important that this process will be efficient, thank you.

You can send the materials via wwww.wetransfer.org to us.
We will compile all materials and make it into a book that will be presented at the end of your final presentation in July.
Best wishes,

David, Max

Dear Professors,

I would like to ask some questions.
- Do you have format or lay out for submit? or save only 1 image in 1 page with out any format.
- before June 21, send all materials that are final products not draft, right?
- You will print final book for us or students have to print it by ourselves.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely Yours,
Piangpim

   Dear prof. Graafland,
Unfortunatelly, I have to say (from myself, Zohal, Mostafa; I suppose some others might also agree) that we are not quite satisfied with this semester. In the beginning of the semester we recieved a time table from XML with tutorials assigned every Thursday (except 1 day off).
If I understood it correctly, this week is going to be the third time when we have no possibility to get a personal comment. And we were again not informed about it in advance. First time during a conference in DIA the whole studio was waiting with no result. Second time Max was in the school, but 6 students could not get a talk with him because prof. Jacoby needed one for about 2 hours. And now it looks like we find out there will be no class only because Egor was kind to ask about this.

Apart from financial and timing issues of coming and waiting, meetings in Dessau are supposed to be a logistically important step in our projects. Therefore, it is important for us to have a clear schedule in order to organize our time and working process efficiently during our short thesis semester. All in all, I don't feel like I got a lot of feedback and motivation during thesis semester, and I have heard similar opinions from my colleages.

I would like to ask you to confirm date, time and place of our final presentation, since we need to plan the presentation, prepare the room and invite our guests.
Additionally: the deadline for booklets is 25. June, Monday, when we have no studio. For those who live in Berlin: is it possible to submit on Thursday 28 or should we bring our booklet on earlier, on 21st when we have a scheduled meeting?

Kind regards,
Larisa

Dear Larisa

I was in Dessau 16 and 17 May, only the students frm Dessau were present, 17 I did not see anyone from Berlin, including you. Might have been a holiday, but the ones from Dessau were present. Then 24 May The Bauhaus conference was on. Not my idea but at least I tried to make up to relate to the Amsterdam studios, I got no response afterwards, I still wonder anyone of the current studio was present. 30 and 31 May I was also there, but most of the Berlin section was absent. 6 June Max was present, this week I am absent, 20 and 21 I am in Dessau. So I do not see your complaint, Zohal and Mostafa I have talked to last time, if they have a problem they should speak to me. Arie Graafland

Dear prof. Graafland,
as I pointed out, my complaint is about that we didn't get turorial 2 times without being informed about it in advance. And this week, again, we found out on Wednesday afternoon that we have no class on Thursday.
We have a lot of students and very limited time all in all, and it is our thesis semester. These 3 weeks at the end of the semester were very important. Indeed, not everyone attends each turorial because we do not necessary have questions every week. But each time there are at least 10 people who come and therefore plan they work taking tutorials into account. Therefore, organizational problems like this create disadvantages.

To make everything clear, I allow myself to remind you the following:
- 17th was offitial holiday and you personally told us one week before that the class is not compulsory for Berlin students.
- 24th of May was a conference, but we were not informed that it means we have no class. And we also were not informed your lecture had relation to our project. Therefore, after 2 hours of waiting, we joined the lecture at the main hall, and after that we were invited to continue at different workshops that took place at the same time. That's why I can very well imagine that many people from the studio had same situation as me: they went to other workshops and unfortunatelly didn't attend your lecture.
- 6th of June, as I mentioned, several students could not talk to Max because he had to participate in a metting at the prof. Jacoby's room.

We can not change that, but I feel like it is important to give feedback.
But what we can do all together is organizing our finals really well.
Therefore, it will be very usefull if you could inform us about the details of time and place as soon as possible.
Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Larisa
