Dear HEAL Supporters and Friends
Attached the reports for the last four months. I apologize for sending them all in a batch like this, and also for not having sent them sooner.
I had become accustomed to this being the task of the German Volunteers, and since the volunteers departed last year we have lapsed in this task.
In future, I will ask HEAL ranger Johannes Maseko to forward the report to the list directly, which will eliminate these delays.
I would like to thank the contributing HEAL members, Sappi, Komatiland, Mikon Chickens, Bundu Poles, Sun Pallets, Joubert and Sons and all the other landowners who support this project.
Special thanks to TRAC, who had renewed their commitment for yet another 12 months. Without the financial support it would not be possible to employ and equip two full time rangers, and local wildlife will stand less of a chance in a environment where life is difficult … and sadly, becoming more difficult.
To members in Schoemanskloof, the rangers will be in theKloof from next week. We meant to send them sooner, but one of the bicycles are out of commission, currently at Valencia awaiting a small spare part. Without the bicycles it is impractical to patrol the Kloof. We are positive that the bicycle will be repaired the next few days.
Regards
Philip Owen
