Good morning. There is an effort to endow a Tamil Studies chair at University of Houston.  For that purpose, there is a Foodfest showcasing Tamil food items. Dinner is at Madras Pavilion, at 5 - 9 PM, this Sunday (Marc 24, 2019). Please do plan to attend.

If you decide to attend, please let me know. Peri, Sundar, Kuppu, myself, ... are attending.

Please consider becoming a founding donor towards forming the Houston Tamil Studies Char (HTSC) at U of H.  Please see the attachment for the details of the fundraising dinner coming up this Sunday.  Specifically, check out the the link 1 from the pdf that provides a pictorial view of the menu containing 22 regional food items from various parts of Tamil Nadu.  This is really a rare opportunity to taste all these wonderful items in one place.  More importantly, a great cause to donate if you are inclined!

Dear Tamil Chair Founding Donor,

Please see below the invitation to the FOODFEST on March 24^th (Founding Donors dinner #2).

We cordially invite you and your spouse (being donors who have already pledged $1,000 or more, listed in LINK-4 of the invitation), to be HOSTS at this event, to welcome new Founding Donors.

 

Please mark the Date March 24 in your calendar. Please rsvp before March 10^th.

 

We request you to explain any interesting regional/cultural/culinary information about the menu item you have sponsored, to other guests at the FOODFEST (ingredients, any known history such as sambar was originated in Tanjore palace of Saroboji), by standing at the station where your menu item will be served for tasting. 

Special thanks to many of you who generously sponsored 100% of the menu items (Recognized in LINK-1 of the invitation). Your generosity helped to generate the funds to underwrite the expenses of the FOODFEST.

We thank Priya Chandru (BKM President), and Rajan Radhakrishnan (MP), the Co-Chairs of the FOODFEST, working on creative ideas to make this a unique event.

We thank the FOODFEST Fund Raising Committee (LINK-2 of the invitation) for their leadership to reach out to new potential Founding Donors with a $1,000 pledge.
