வரால் எனப்படும் மீன் அண்மையில் உருவாகிய தெலுங்கானா மாகாணத்தின் மீன் என அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
வரிகளை உடையதால் வரால். விரால் என்றும், பிரால் (braal) என்றும் பேச்சில் வழங்கும்.



மரால் என்று வரால் சில இடங்களில் அழைக்கப்படுகிறதா? விழி- முழி- என்கிறோம்: “முழிச்சுப் பார்த்தான்”, ...
அதிலிருந்து “Murrel" என ஆங்கிலத்தில் பெயர் வரால்/விரால் மீனுக்கு வந்ததா?

வேதத்தில் வராலின் பெயர் ஶகுல < சக்களி-. சக்களிதல் = தட்டையாதல். சகடு = wheel, சாகாடு = வண்டியின் பிளாட்பார்ம். 
“பீலி பெய் சாகாடும் அச்சு இறும்” - வள்ளுவர். அச்சு < அக்‌ஷ ‘axle'
வாம மார்க்க பூஜையில், தேவிக்குப் படையல்  ஶகுல மீன்.  ஶகுல என வராற்பேர் பற்றிப் பின்னர். 

Murrel - வராலுக்கு எந்த ஆண்டிலிருந்து பெயராகப் பயன்படுத்துகின்றனர் எனத் தெரிவிப்போருக்கு நன்றி.

வரால் > விரால் > முறால் ஆகிவிட்டது. இது தான் ஆங்கிலத்தில் பேச்சுத்தமிழ்க் கொடையாக murrel என வழங்குகிறது.

It is a highly priced game fish with high market value both in domestic and international markets. Cobia known for its excellent meat quality is a famous premium food fish highly preferred by people in Taiwan and Japan. The white meat of the fish is served in restaurants as raw fish called Sashimi. The fast growth rate, adaptability to captive breeding (attains 6-8 kg/year) are the major attributes which makes cobia as an excellent candidate species for aquaculture . Cobia is one of the marine finfish species with high aquaculture potential particularly for cage culture in India.

சின்ன வயதில் ''இல்லிப் பூச்சியும், மொரலும்'' [மொரலு என்பது கடற்கரையில் கிடைக்கும் சிப்பி, இல்லிப் பூச்சி பற்றி விளக்கத் தெரியவில்லை, பெசன்ட் நகர் சுண்டக் கஞ்சி கடையில் இது கிடைக்கும்] பிடித்து சுட்டுத் தின்றுவிட்டு விளையாடிய கடற்கரையில் இனி நாங்கள் கால் பதிக்க முடியாது.

 

தமிழக கடற்கரையின் அத்தனை நிலங்களும் பணக்கார முதலைகளாலும், அரசியல்வாதிகளின் பினாமிகளாலும் வளைக்கப்பட்டு விட்டது.

 

இனி கடலில் இல்லிப் பூச்சி பிடிக்கவோ, இங்கே மாடு மேய்க்கவோ அனுமதி இல்லை. நிலம் வாங்கிப் போட்ட பணக்காரனை சுனாமி வந்து அழித்தால், எனக்கு கவலை இல்லை.”

ultimately turning Varuna into Shiva in the form of Linga in deep South (Gudimallam) is explained in my third paper in the series.
I presented it in 16th World Sanskrit Conference, Bangkok (2016).

Please read these 3 papers on Indus Valley (Bronze Age) & Tamil relations, as shown in Religion.

My three papers on Indus crocodile religion, its appearance as Anthropomorphic Axe in Tamil Nadu as monolithic sculptures during Early Iron Age:

(1) Gharial god and Tiger goddess in the Indus valley, Some aspects of Bronze Age Indian Religion, 2007, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
