Hi all,

Here is a special opportunity to see the UH Coastal Center's prairie!  Usually open only with permission, UHCC is hosting an Open House on September 11.  See details below.  You may log 1.5 hours of AT for stopping and listening at each of the six stations.

You are invited to the UH Coastal Center’s second Open House on Wednesday, September 11^th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  The bloom is later this year with the recent drought, but the prairie is still blooming.   There will be 6 points- of- interest stops along a driving route where you can get out and speak with a volunteer who can fill you about why the stops are special.  When you check in at the entrance gate, a volunteer will sign in your vehicle using your license plate number and hand you a map of the driving route.  

 

The stops include prairie ecology and native plants, wetlands, history, and our new plant propagation program.  Volunteers will sign out your vehicle as you leave so we don’t lose anybody. 

 

Water and restrooms will be available.  You are free to spend as much time as you like at UHCC until 1:00 PM.
