Hi,
This is a personal email that I am sending as an FYI of what is happening.  CenterPoint is currently evaluating 19 potential transmission line segments in the Hockley area, and several proposed routes would run along the northern boundary of  Warren Ranch within the Katy Prairie Preserve. One route will be selected, and public input will influence the decision.

I have pasted Mary Anne Piacentini's email regarding the subject at this link. If you would like to know more about it (including about the zoom meeting tonight, Wed, April 8), just click the link.

This is an FYI - an update on the center point proposals for power line near the Katy Prairie Preserve. (See my original email below).

I just filled out the Center Point feedback form Somewhere I saw that the form has to be submitted by April 24.

Here is how I answered two of the questions:

One of the questions asked which transmission line and substation would you like to see. I answered line 1 and substation 1.These do not go near the Warren Ranch nor the neighborhood (so neighborhood might be supportive of this also).

Another question asked which transmission line would you like to see avoided: I answered per Mary Anne's initial email: avoid routes 5,15,17 with reason: "Routes 5, 15, and 17 would cross the northern boundary of Warren Ranch, one of the largest protected landscapes on the Katy Prairie. These routes would:
  • Degrade wildlife habitat along the Central Flyway

  • Introduce invasive species and long-term maintenance corridors

  • Impact scenic views and public recreation areas

  • Disturb migratory bird flight paths and sensitive species"
