Tonight, Tuesday 9/6, join us at the Volcano (2349 Bissonnet) for our
monthly "First Tuesday" gathering. This will be a special one, so make sure
you get there!

We'll be joined by the on-air personalities for the 90.1 KPFT Monday
afternoon HAAM (Houston Area Acoustic Musicians) Radio Show: Chris Collins,
Connie Mims, and Bill Cabrera. They will be discussing how to get your music
on the radio, and they will share with you their likes and dislikes
regarding music submissions.

In addition, organizers from NOAHleans (a new Houston organization helping
New Orleans musicians) will be around to explain the organization and get
help. See below for more info.

As usual, the meeting is at the Volcano (2349 Bissonnet) and goes from 7pm
to 11pm. No cover charge, free food, drinks at cheap prices, and lots of
Houston Music Industry folks in one room. Ian will be hosting this month,
along with the folks from HAAM & NOAH.

Helping New Orleans Musicians
-----------------------------

The response from Houston's music community to the tragedy of Hurricane
Katrina has been inspiring. A large group of local musicians has started an
organization dedicated specifically to helping the many displaced
*musicians* from New Orleans:

They've created a database of displaced (and missing) musicians, and
coordinating special help for them: getting new gigs, new instruments, etc.
If you know of any musicians who could use a special helping hand, pass
their info along to the folks at NOAH (or print out info and give it to
them).

On 9/10 and 9/11, there's also a big benefit at Numbers, put on by HBC & a
dozen Houston institutions, with an incredible local band lineup. Check out
