Quick reminder: mark your calendars for a big gathering at the Volcano
on March 7th.
Houston doesn't need to drive to Austin for SxSW to make musical
connections - we've got a rich community of musicians and we can do it
right here. Picture a couple hundred serious-minded musicians & industry
folks crammed into the Volcano, meeting and making connections ... you
get the idea. Bring your business cards & your cds, and get ready to
meet other folks who are really making it happen in Houston. And spread
the word to your lists as well.
If you ARE heading to Austin for SXSW, you're welcome too, of course!
There are 20 Houston artists on this year's bill, and plenty of our
music business infrastructure (studio engineers, managers, promoters,
etc.) goes every year as well.
The gathering starts at 7pm and goes until 11pm, and will have free food
and cheap drinks (happy hour prices).

** Big gear swap / sale: March 5 (deadline to sell is TODAY)
TC Smythe is hosting a swap meet/gear sale at the Hops House on Sunday
March 5th. If you want to come out buy/sell/trade and enjoy a great
open mic afterward, visit the page at http://www.soundchick.net . White
Cat Productions, The Hops House and Lone Star Love will also be
contributing items for sale. If you want to sell too, you'll have to
help us with the newspaper ad costs - I'm anticipating 20.00 apiece.
The more sellers, the bigger the ad....
The deadline for registering to sell gear is TODAY, so if you want to do
that, visit http://www.soundchick.net/ and sign up by midnight tonight.
If you want to buy, you still need to register to attend or you won't be
allowed into the buying space (the Hops House isn't big enough to do
this 'flea-market' style.) Buyers attend for free.
