The 37-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing a teen on her way
to work in the Galleria area was out on bond for another alleged
crime involving a knife, court records reveal.

Kaysone Sky Blossom is charged with capital murder for the Saturday
morning stabbing of 17-year-old Kayla Stevenson.

She’s being held without bond at the moment because the alleged
killing broke the conditions of her bond for a past crime involving
her ex-boyfriend.

Nearly three years before the fatal stabbing of Stevenson, in
February 2021, Blossom was charged with aggravated assault of a
family member.

Court documents reveal she allegedly cut her ex-boyfriend while
armed with a Taser, handcuffs, duct tape, and another knife in her
purse.

According to a source close to the investigation, Blossom had been
invited over and was watching TV with her ex-boyfriend. At some
point, she emerged from the bathroom with a pellet gun and fired
pepper gas bullets, before grabbing her ex-boyfriend in the private
area and stabbing him in several places.

He fought back as they wrestled over the gun, the source said. A
2021 booking photo of Blossom shows injuries she sustained.

At the time, court records indicated Blossom was living with her
husband and had lived in Houston for eight years. Civil court
records show divorce proceedings were filed later that year.

Four days after she was booked into jail on the aggravated assault
charge, Blossom got out on a personal bond without paying a fee,
records show.

In September of 2021, six months after Blossom got out of jail,
Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 6, known as the Damon Allen
Act, which changed the state law in Texas. Violent offenders like
Blossom became required to pay cash or a bondsman to be free from
jail, but she was already out.

“It adds accountability for judges who release dangerous criminals
on bail,” Gov. Abbott said about the law at the time.

Now, Stevenson’s family is grieving after Blossom allegedly stabbed
the new mother to death on her way to work over a designer bag.

“How could you be so cold as to take such a beautiful soul?,”
Stevenson’s mother Kylie said in an interview with KPRC 2. “I hope
that someday you (Blossom) will feel remorseful if you don’t
already. I know that God wants me to forgive you but it’s too soon.”

At the time of the robbery and stabbing, investigators said Blossom
rode a blue cruiser-style bicycle. A source said Blossom had just
purchased the bicycle from Walmart that day.

Blossom was supposed to make her first court appearance on the
capital murder charge Thursday morning, but records show she has
been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Records show the aggravated assault case got pushed back several
times over the last few years. The Harris County District Attorney’s
Office said her court-appointed attorney changed mid-case and a
second mental health evaluation was still pending.

Both cases are now being handled by the same judge.
