All the national acts booked into the club (Stray Cats, Cheap Trick, among
others) have happened without incident. Further, the dance-fests apparently
also still happen. The only thing filing for bankruptcy really did do was
cause the cancellation of a number of gigs for Toy Subs, Trish and Darin,
and Twenty Mondays, just to name a few... (ie: no more Local music there)

great club. Go visit this month, and wish them a happy fifteenth
birthday... (BTW: The current "Public News" mentions Dennis Miller
and Jay Leno played Fitzgerald's in the club's infancy. Anyone old
enough to ever remember *comedy* at Studemont and White Oak?) Incidentally,
the same article mentions that REM played Fitzgerald's in 1977, and was
paid $100.00 -- no catering!

as to Jeff's question of why are clubs being busted, I think the answer is
obvious. The city is out to shut down any place "illegal activity" might
be going on, so our fair town looks squeaky clean when George Bush and his
"friends" invade next month...

Good point. They're probably using the same tactics to hid our
"non-existent" homeless population and the "not to be metioned"
South Main ladies. (Sorry, that should be hide, not hid).

So who is playing at Fitzs now or soon to come?

Also, how hard/impossible would it be to talk to the owners/managers
of some of these places to get a follow up on some of these
incidents? The Houston Press had an excellent article on the
W. Alabama Ice House "Raid", but failed to follow up with anything
on what has happened since.

Just musing.
