The other day I saw that Saturn driving around in my neighborhood.
I made some inquiries and found out that the car is still in my name. No
title transfer was done.
I now find out that the car was sold at auction. No title transfer was
done.
So, someone is driving a car with expired registration in my name.
The parties involved are "working on it" and we will just have to wait and
see.
If it were not filing a false report, I "could" report the car stolen and
get it right back, putting the person driving it in jail.
So, beware when you deal with Expo 2000 on the North Freeway.
This is not unique to Expo 2000. Two different vehicles I've traded in
over the past 15 years have been ticketed around town. Both times I've
received nasty collection notices from city-appointed collections
attorneys. I simply called them up, said that I traded in my car/truck
2/3 years before to Joe Myers Toyota/Texan Ford, and advised them to
call the dealership. No problems, but it is annoying. From my
conversations with these collections people it appears to happen very
frequently.
The obvious real problem is if someone commits a serious crime while
driving that car and the cops come knocking on your door to arrest
you. I don't know if this has happened in the past.
