If you are/were a listener to KQUE-FM I am interested in hearing about
your thoughts re:the format change that occured this week.I am not a
happy trooper about it myself...

I think it sounds like KQUE probably *would've* sounded about 40 years
from now.

I have listened to KQUE for over 10 years..and now silence. Their
stupid 1230 AM won't reach FM1960 without a great deal of static. I
wish they had an email address to send my complaint to.

I will miss Scott Arthur at 5:30 AM and on my way to work. I mourn the
passing of a good friend, KQUE.

It's a tragedy. It was the number one station in the city
for listeners who had reached mental maturity. I can only
assume that greed motivated the buyers. It certainly wasn't
concern for Houstonians.

May they fail in silence.

Scott used to have an e-mail address but I don't know if he has it
anymore....don't remember what is was.And I already tried to find an
e-mail address for KQUE without any luck.If anyone out there has any
info on where we can lodge a complaint or at least let our displeasure
be known I would appreciate it.
I had no idea that they were going to pull this stuff, and I think it
stinks. And no one can tell me those DJ'S are going to hang around a
1,000 watt AM station for very long, either.Arthur,Berlin and the rest
may sound like they are trying to accept this whole thing but who can
blame them if they tell those clowns who bought the station to take
their "new format" and "new station" and shove it?

I empathize with you. I recently went through the same thing with KHYS. I
woke one morning to find they have fired the best DJ crew in town and the only
JAZZ to be replaced with garbage and no DJ's.

the people of Houston. The New York type crap they are now programming
on K-QUE you can find on any place on the dail. But there in again if I
paid 40 Million dollars for this slot on the dail, I would do what I
wanted to do.

The K-NUZ signal is weak.

Stan, I've been "put out" by KHYS' format change as well. However, I
listen more to recorded music now, and KTSU has a pretty good format as
well.

Someone'll come along with the Smooth Jazz format before too long.
Houston's just too big a market.

An interesting statement, for then you continue with:

>I can only assume that greed motivated the buyers. It certainly wasn't
>concern for Houstonians.

<sigh>

I weary of answering posts like this, but feel that I must continue,
lest the darkness of socialism fall with finality upon the minds of
those who were once free (etc. etc.):

Of course it is "greed" that motivates business people. It is "greed"
that motivates me to get up this morning and go to work; it is NOT my
"concern for my employers."

Another word for "greed" in the context YOU mention is "profit motive."
That is the raison d'etre for EVERY commercial enterprise in existence.
Where there are no profits, there is no commerce, no business, no
economic growth, no future.

I hate to belabor this, but it is useful to separate our wants and
desires from the wants and desires of others. YOU want a radio station
of a specific format; the owners of KQUE want to make money. How much
is enough? We are fortunate that, in this great nation of ours,
"enough" is never tightly defined, for it has led us to be the most
prosperous nation in history.

I am sorry that KQUE, or any other radio station in our area, no longer
represents your interests. I can sympathize, because recently KHYS-FM
also changed formats (without even leaving an AM "bone" behind). I
wrote 'em a "nasty note," saying, just as you did:

>May they fail in silence.

But that is based on my confidence that the format they switched to will
not garner them any added revenues. If it does, I'm wrong, and they're
right.

Emotion is not business, and business is not emotion.

I don't like it one damned bit. For people who like a variety of
popular music, this was the only station in town. The public stations
are ok for a variety, but not the same type of variety KQUE had. I will
sure miss them.

Why did this happen? Does anyone know the specifics? I assume
money/ratings.

I'm with you in wishing the new Kque bad luck. That was
"heartless"
What SFX pulled, but since when have Jews had hearts with
feelings?
I feel they think now their other station of easy listening
will finnally
get to hold first place in the FM ratings, with Kque now out
of FM.
So dumb of them to spend all that money just to get a number
one
rated station"Kque" off FM.........shows the extend Jews
will go to
to have things"their way, or no way at all"...........turn
to classical
station, or public radio KUHF now..........We need to teach
the Jews
of SFX a real good lesson.
