Patrick, you never contribute to the debate. All you present is braggadocio,
insults, and accusations.

Please tell us why you feel so threatened when others exercise their right
to free speech?

During the Revolution, in which the United States won it's independence from
Brittain, Anonymity was crucial to promoting the exchange of ideas. The
principles of government, on which this nation was founded, were presented
in a brilliant discourse entitled "The Federalist Papers". Newspapers of the
time printed editorials without disclosing the identity of the author. This
was necessary to protect them from police action by the Tories.

Anonymous writings, publication with pen names, is still legal in the United
States. It is crucial to preserving our right to free speech which is the
first protection of all our other rights and freedoms.

We allow you the freedom to disagree. You are free to write why you believe
free speech should be abolish. However; You are not free to use the tactics
you have been using.

There is a tort called "Public disclosure of private facts". You and Logan
Villa have utilized this in your attempts to stiffle my exercise of my free
speech. You persist in disclosing my name and my employment without my
permission to do so. My posts have always associated me with INFORMED
CITIZENS. Which is a distinct and seperate entity from my employer. I have
never disclosed my employment in any of my posts.

Please tell us why you feel so threatened when others exercise their right
to free speech. It is obvious this is the reason you harrass and
continually post nothing but insulting names in response to anyone posts
outside your small little circle of approved friends. Friends who used the
same tactics as you.

It is sad but true that you and logan villa have been very effective in
utilizing these tactics to kill participation in this newsgroup by all but a
few. It is obvious to me this is your objective.

Please tell us, what is something you picked up in your Russian Studies
classes? Free Speech was never allowed there until recently. We have seen
the results of this. A nation with by far the greatest wealth in the most
abundant resources of any nation. A nation that has many brilliant minds as
evident by the literature of their writers, writings the people there could
not read. A nation where all people have had access to an excellent
education but at the same time have been taught to not think for themselves.
Is a nation in ruins with people starving because of a long history of
stiffling free speech.

Why do you want to bring this to the United States of America? Is is because
you hate America?

You have proudly disclosed in your posts that you work for Rice University.
Is this what Rice is promoting in their classes? Is this their policy on
free speech? We see from the return address on your posts and the times of
the posts that you monitor these newsgroups and post to them during your
free time. Yet you call the employers of others to ask them if they are
aware their employees are posting during their work hours. Tell us; Are
these postings on behalf of the University?

A review of the speakers Rice has brought to town, noticing Rice University
was the only place in town where people could see "Waco - The Rules of
Engagement", indicates this is not the type of attitude and behavior this
University would want to be associated with.

So tell us; Why do you feel so threatened when others exercise their right

Patrick is quick to point out other people (in his mind) who he thinks are
intolerant but he has no tolerance for other people's religions and instead of
showing the error of the religion he prefers to insult the followers.

This newsgroup is alt.abortion. It isn't alt.jesus.is.lord, or any other name
that would signify its purpose as being for religious discussions. There are
plenty of those in the alt. and soc. hierarchies, already, so any preachers
are advised to take their babble to a newsgroup where it's at least got _some_
connection with the newsgroup's purpose. Bothering other newsgroups with
their prattling won't win them any converts, but _will_ likely piss off people
to the point where you get the inevitable flamefest.

Actually, I live on the other side of the Houston area from Dave...and
the shortest possible pedal between where I live and where he lives
would be something like 40 miles. That's one reason I've done it only
a couple of times. (Yes, Dave, the other times I've been by, I drove. :)

STALKING BEHAVIOR PATTERNS AND CYCLES
1 Attempts at intimidation often begin in the form of an unjustified, jealous
and inappropriate intrusion into the victim's life.

2 Contacts become more numerous and intrusive over time, until such conduct
becomes a persistent pattern of harassment.

3 Harassment may escalate to threats

4 In some cases, offenders are even willing to kill their victims and themselves

What Can I Do?

While a stalking victim may not be in imminent danger, the potential always
exists. Making a contingency plan may help. Suggested items to include in such a
plan are:

Take all threats seriously.

Travel with others or inform a friend of your departure and expected arrival
times.

Report all suspicious activity to law enforcement.

Keep notes, answering machine tapes or other items that document the stalkers
actions.

Alert critical people, who may be useful in formulating a contingency plan, such

Treat any threats as legitimate and inform law enforcement immediately.

Vary travel routes, stores and restaurants, etc., which are regularly used.
Limit time walking, jogging, alone etc.

Inform a trusted neighbor or coworker about the situation. Provide them with a
photo or description of the suspect and any possible vehicles he/she may drive.

If residing in an apartment with an on-site property manager, provide the
manager with a picture of the suspect.

Have co-workers screen all calls and visitors.

Although it is tempting to dismiss stalking behavior in the hopes it will stop,
stalking can be a very serious and potentially dangerous offence. Even without
the possible threat of violence, stalkers can instill fear and anxiety in those

Be Alert To Common Traits of Stalkers

Stalkers display an obsessive personality.

They are not just interested in, but totally obsessed with the person they are
pursuing. Their every waking thought centers on the victim, and every plan the
stalker has for the future involves the victim.

Along with obsessive thinking, they also display other psychological or
personality problems and disorders. They may suffer from erotomania, paranoia,
schizophrenia, and delusional thinking. According to Professor R. Meloy, "these
stalkers have rigid personalities and maladaptive styles. These disorders in
themselves are very stable and not treatable." There are drugs to treat certain
specific mental disorders, but stalkers, when given the choice, seldom continue
with their medication or treatment.

Stalkers are above average in intelligence and are usually smarter than the run
of the mill person with mental problems.

They will go to great lengths to obtain information about their victims or to
find victims who have secretly moved. They have been known to hack into
computers, tap telephone lines, take jobs at public utilities that allow them
access to the victims or information about the victims, and even to travel
thousands of miles and spend thousands of dollars to gain information about or
find their victims. Stalkers many times use their intelligence to throw others
off their trail.

Few stalkers can see how their actions are hurting others.

They display other sociopathic thinking in that they cannot learn from
experience, and they don't believe society's rules apply to them. Most stalkers
don't think they're really threatening, intimidating, or even stalking someone
else.

Stalkers, like rapists, want absolute control over their victims. They don't
regard what they're doing as a crime, or even wrong.

Stalkers many times have a mean streak and will become violent when frustrated.

How violent? Often deadly.

The above traits remind us that much of stalking involves harassment and
annoyance, but never forget that stalkers can also be extraordinarily dangerous.

Although the majority of cases do not end in murder or grave bodily injury,
enough do every year that victims should never brush aside the possibility.
Victims of stalking should never take the crime lightly....
