I noticed recently the "The Original Pasta Company" at S. Post Oak & W.
Bellfort has changed to "Mario's (?) Flying Pizza". Are all the Pasta's
closing, just changing name or what?

This was their original location and uSED to be a wonderful little place. We
used to go about once a month. Our average is now once a year! Once we went
there and the waitress had a real attitude..I don't think she liked multi
racial tables at her station. The lst time we went there the bread was cold
and he white wine was warm!

OPC is owned by the same folks that own Marco's Mexican Restaurants
so I highly doubt if they would dump the entire chain of Italian
eateries. The OPC on Westheimer hasn't changed so I assume it is a
single unprofitable location that was sold to Mario's.

Mario's - NO. "Original NAPOLI Flying Pizza" . Bread is hot. Menu
is mostly Pasta Rather small pizza section - NY or Siciliano-style.
I thought it was fairly good on my only visit. (others of this group:
14743 Memorial, 9604 Westheimer, 4502 Hwy 6 North - listed on menu)
Wine list is satisfactory. Waitress had a very good attitude. Didn't
see any multiracial tables, but saw nothing to suggest they are
absent. Do have multispeces locations, where you can park your vehicle
in shade, leave windows cracked, sit by large window and communicate
with small canine friend. Couple close to my table had a bouncy little
white puddle person in front seat.

Actually, new place is Napoli's Flying Pizza, and mostly a pasta place
judging by menu.

I thought Mario's was involved in some kind of gangster money
laundering or something like that and closed in Houston and Galveston
County - Maybe that;s when Marco obtained the string. Used to be one
in Missouri City or Stafford, not sure. This all transpired several
years ago, but I definitely remember the `Flying Pizza' part of
moniker.

Sorry about the name. I guess I remember the Marios name from another place.
Wasn't there a flying pizza place on Hillcroft just off Westheimer. They had
a big sign out front with a flying pizza on it. If I remember correctly they
were near the old Harlows..one of the great 2:00 am eating places in the
80's.

You're thinking of Antonio's and it is still there and still good.

Someone once told me a very interesting story about Mario and Antonio
and how they came to have separate "Flying Pizza" restaurants.
Unfortunately, it was too many moons ago and I can't remember enough
of it to make it worthwhile to repeat. Does anyone else know the full
story of how they split up?

I used to frequent the Napoli's on Memorial out beyond Dairy Ashford when I
worked out that way, and was always pleased with the quality of the food.

Greg R. Broderick Things usually work just before they break.
Otherwise they'd break sooner.

It's way beyond that now. I saw a show on TVFN a couple of weeks ago where they
had these two guys who owned a pizza place out west. They were champion pizza
dough throwers. They consistently won competitions.

Picture it as a combination of juggling, frisbee tossing, and break dancing
while tossing pizza dough. It was very impressive.
