And on that note....I'm looking for some professional help (no comments
please)....
1. Leasing agent who will represent *me* while looking for space and who
knows the ins and outs of what is required for a space for food service and
is very familiar with lease rates in different parts of the city
(particularly the SW).
2. Restaurant consultant who can meet with us, possibly several times, to
help us understand *EVERYTHING* we need so we don't leave anything out and
possibly help us do some design work...or can recommend a good restaurant
designer.
3. anyone else you think can help us. :)

Meg,
Do you have a theme or style for the restaurant? Do
you have the prospectus plan mapped out? Are you going
to use computer POS?
Do you have a chef in mind? Is there going to be a
proportion of pre-prep, salads, deserts etc?
Hell, want to have dinner and talk about it, and scratch
hieroglyphics on napkins through a fine haze of wine :-)
There are only three aspects of a restaurant in which I
have yet to be employed, planning and design, marketing,
and owning the Titanic.
JJ
Jay, You will be one of the first to see the menu. I think you'll have to
get in line for testsing. LOL
Jeremy, Dinner...where, when...you bring the drawing board.

Sherry
One of the most respected and knowledgable restaurant consultants in
Houston, is Chris Tripoli of A la Carte Food Service Consulting. He just
had a five-week seminar that started in February for folks planning to start
a new restaurant operation. It covered Concept Development, Market
Research, Business Plan, Design and Construction, Scheduling and Financial
Feasibility. Although that one is over, he does several seminars like this
throughout the year... they only cost $75.00.
They're offered by the U of H's Small Business Development Center. For
info, call the center at 713-752-8488. Or, you might call Chris at his
office at 281-293-0077. I've not met him, but he's highly thought of in the
GHRA.

I was briefly in a breakfast club with Chris a long time ago (Studebaker's
anyone?). He was highly thought of in that group and I still remember how
passionate he was about his work for Escape Center. Very nice guy.

and more spam. Everybody and their sister can design
a website. Take it to a group where it's on-topic.
Chris, who isn't trying to sell anything
Nope. Spam is typically a mass mailing or posting; I followed up
a specific post, as did Sherry.
> Everybody and their sister can design a website.
And everbody and their sister can cook a meal, yet at times we have
professionals do it for us.
I've designed web sites for many large firms, such as Budweiser and
Blockbuster, for the State of Texas and agencies of the US
Government. I've designed 'em for several restaurants. I created
the Austin Dining Guide when CitySearch was yet to be a gleam in
Bill Gross's eye. Sherry may very well be equally qualified.
There's a huge difference between a professional web design and a
home-grow effort.
> Take it to a group where it's on-topic.
Chris, that sounds a wee bit hypocritical after you introduce here
the discussion about who can and cannot design a web site. If you
are going to play netcop, don't preceed it by injecting your opinion
on the content of a thread.
Meg, who also does web sites...professionally
