Everyone is very welcome to attend this event - this month I'm
speaking on writing R packages. There are drinks and nibbles, and
Rice sponsors parking so you don't have to pay. A small donation is
appreciated but optional.

Making an R package

Abstract:

In this session I'll introduce you to the basics (and not-so-basics)
of building an R package.  I've written over 20 R packages, and I'm
keen to share my experiences with you to make the experience as
painless as possible.  You'll learn about the basic structure of a
package, producing function documentation with roxygen, the role of
package documentation, and how to release your package into the
wild...

UH clear lake: We are looking for adjunct faculty to cover some
statistics courses. We are now preparing the spring schedule and need
instructors to teach one graduate level statistics course for
non-majors and a few undergraduate statistics courses.   We would
highly appreciate if you can spread out the word to the members of
HACASA.  If any member (or any member knows someone who) is interested
in such teaching experience.  Please let anyone who is interested
contact me via email L...@uhcl.edu.  Compensation will be discussed
further with qualified applicants.

 Children’s Nutrition Research Center: We are seeking to hire a
statistician to work with a group of  9 behavioral-nutrition
scientists to analyze data from grant funded (mostly NIH and USDA)
research projects. We are seeking either a recent PhD or an advanced
masters person with experience in analyzing behavioral data. Analyses
will include scale psychometrics, cluster-unit experiments,
multivariate analyses (e.g. structural equation models), and
longitudinal survey analyses. Tasks also require power calculations
and write ups for grant applications and working with data managers
and project management staff. A junior faculty appointment is possible
for the qualified candidate. Attached please find a more detailed job
