A few of us have decided to get together to do an informal meetup to
discuss how we are using R, things we would like to learn about, and
whatever other topics flow forth after we have a few beers.

Since it seems like we are spread out all over the city, I'm proposing
Wednesday, September 29th at Ernie's on Banks in the Museum District
~6:30pm. They have an upstairs area where I believe we can reserve a
table. The only issue with the upstairs area is that it is NOT
handicap accessible. If there is anyone who is thinking of attending
that this might be an issue for please let me know so we can see about
a downstairs table or changing locations.

Once we get a somewhat firm attendance number, I'll call about
reserving a table.

Hopefully, this will be the start of what will become a more regular
and formalized meeting group down the road.

Regards,
Ed

Sounds good to me. My wife will be out of town, so I'll be scratching to get fed anyway. 8-)

Hello,

I am in for the 9/29 meeting. Ernie's is a good place too.

Thank you,

Kam

That time works for me as well.

The location is OK. It's too early to tell on the timing, but I'll
try to make it.

Apparently, Ernie's closed down and has resurrected as the "Grand
Prize Bar" some time over the summer. I've tried calling the new
number several times to make a reservation and haven't been able to
get ahold of anyone. At this point, if you guys want to still meet
over there without a table reservation, we can go ahead. It looks like
it's going to be ~10 of us and it will be an off night, so it's
probably doable. The other option is to pick a different place. I
was thinking of CoffeeGroundz over in midtown, but I'm open to
suggestions.

I live close to Ernie's--er, Grand Prize Bar--so if they continue to
be unreachable over the phone, I'd be happy to go ask about the
reservation in person.

Hello,

I'll meet anywhere. Goundzcoffee is good too but it may be a bit small for 10.

John. If you could go over there that would be great. I've been
trying to call since Friday and have been unable to get through.
Looks like we may be closer to 15 people now. I've had a few people
msg me off-list and we may get some lurkers as well.

I went to Grand Prize Bar and asked about reserving the upstairs room.
They didn't have a clear idea whether they actually take reservations;
one bartender said they don't really do that, but the other bartender
said they've done it before, so I don't know for sure. In any case, I
let them know that a group of 15-20 people (just to be safe) would be
showing up on the 29th at 6:30.
