Burychka" <wil...@burychka.com>I have 3 of them. Replacement for a pop up flash on my 5D-III, I guess if one is really desperate. Reason I bought them was for master controller and macro tabletop rig. For $50 a flash, it's a very good deal. I use all three on my macro tabletop rig and get good results when the flash is diffused. Good for about ~100 pops before you need to change out the batteries. Keep an eye on eBay as I have seen the flashes sell for $50 there.Best regards - WilliamOn Wed, Jun 4, 2014 at 7:44 AM, Laszlo Perlaky <natur...@comcast.net> wrote:

First, if you are a non-Canon user, just delete this. I removed the brand N people that I knew of in the study group, but I could have missed a couple. Also, I left the facilitators on the list, because even if you don’t have Canon cameras, you might have students who could be interested.B&H has the Canon 90EX flash—the “white box” version that was previously sold as part of a bundle with the EOS-M mirrorless camera—for $59.49 with free expedited shipping. The EOS-M camera, besides being mirrorless, was also viewfinderless, EF-lens adapterless, and ultimately customerless, so it’s all but gone, but apparently thousands of these little flashes were put in white boxes for bundles that never happened. I’m told this flash originally sold in a retail USA Canon box for $125 or so. Canon lists it at $149. OK, so what? Who needs a non-tilting, non-swiveling flash with not much more power than a popup flash? I see two Canon users who might be interested.One. You have one of the Canon DSLRs that does not have a popup flash (5D, 6D, and of the 1 series). You don’t want to always carry your big flash around just in case, so you usually just have no flash. This is your new pop-on flash. At 1.7x2x2.6” and 1.8oz, you can tuck this in any little nook or cranny, purse or pocket. Runs on two AAA batteries-alkaline, lithium, or NiMH rechargeables.Second Canon user type. You’ve got a 580EX or other Canon-compatible flash that will work off camera as a slave, but yours is not one of the recent Canon DSLR’s with built in remote triggering. The Canon remote controller, at over $300, is just more than makes sense to buy for your limited use. This little flash will function as a trigger for an off camera Canon-compatible flash. Read the B&H user reviews to learn about that.Or course, you could fit both the above user types, couldn’t you? Or there are others who might see still another use for this Canon flash. If your popop flash and zoom lens combine to leave lens shadows at the bottom of your closeup pictures, this will be an inch or so higher than the built in flash and could help that.If you’re curious, here’s a link to the flash at B&H:For a little more about the flash itself and more pictures of the flash, here’s the Canon page:See you Thursday.BillHPSG Home: http://www.burychka.com/hpsgHPSG Assignments: http://www.burychka.com/assignmentsHPSG Past Assignments: http://www.burychka.com/past-assignments--
