Happy Saturday everyone,
Randy
Bresnik, an astronaut with NASA, will be launching to the International
Space Station in June. Before leaving Earth, each astronaut identifies a
special interest of theirs to focus some of their outreach on. For
Randy, the area of interest he identified is photography – his
grandfather was a photographer, and he’s really great himself. He’s
planning to take photos he’s captured around the world here on Earth and
match them up to photos he takes of the same location from space. It
doesn’t have many of his own photos on it yet, but he recently started
an Instagram account at
www.instagram.com/astrokomrade – you can see some photos of his training there right now, and he’ll be adding more.
He
has a news conference on his mission coming up on Jan. 25, and a
representative from NASA has invited some members of the Houston
Photographic Society to attend it.
It will be from 1-2 pm. They
can arrange a small tour if we can be there a little earlier, say 12
noon. They can accommodate upto 15 people. You would be able (and
encouraged!) to ask questions to Randy related to photography during the
event, and we’d also love for you to share your experience via social
media. Please signup at your earliest convenience.
Please use this form to signup. If you are having issues signing up, please let me know.
