Hi everyone --

We will meet again next Wednesday, December 19th at Houston Central
Market (Weslayan and Westheimer) in the Community Room upstairs. .

For anyone who missed last month and who still wants to participate,
it's not too late!

We will finish our discussion of THE SHALLOWS by Nicholas Carr. In
this second and final discussion, we will cover chapters 7
through 10 plus the Epilogue. Opinions and questions that apply to
previous months' readings are welcome too.

Also, please read this relatively short article that appeared in the
New York Times magazine available at:
http://www.houstonbookclubs.org/HoustonNonfiction/ChangingHowStudentsLearn.pdf

Though there is repetition in the book, I think the topic of the
Internet and how it is changing our minds and lives is a rather
inexhaustive subject so please feel free to bring your own questions
and readings and experiences. I plan to start the discussion by
asking those attending if they have any questions or topics they want
to make sure we cover that are of particular interest to them.

For next month, on January 16th, we will start a new title INCOGNITO
by David Eagleman.
Join us and discuss Chapters 1 through 4, plus an article available
at: http://www.houstonbookclubs.org/HoustonNonfiction/bioEagleman.pdf
about the bestselling author who is a researcher and who resides in Houston.

Meanwhile, hope to see you December 19th for the wrap-up of THE
SHALLOWS.
