Hi everyone -
We will meet next week on Wednesday, March 20th at 7pm at Houston
Central Market in the upstairs community room to discuss the first
half of THE SOCIAL CONQUEST OF EARTH by Edward O. Wilson - Sections I,
II, and III (pgs 1-130). David will lead the discussion.
Also, if you have time, I've made available additional information
originally published in THE ATLANTIC MONTHLY about the author, E.O.
Wilson. A copy of the article is on our website at:
http://www.houstonbookclubs.org/HoustonNonfiction/bioEOWilsonAtlanticMthy.pdf
And for those who have attended at least twice, it isn't too early to
submit titles to me via email for the ballot for our election coming
up at our April 17th meeting. We will be electing three books.
And lastly, Wendy, whom most of you know as a regular attendee and
moderator of many of our discussions in our Houston Nonfiction group
has sent out in her capacity as the new President of the Houston Great
Books Council a personal introductory message regarding her current
views of the council and her enthusiasm about what they have been
accomplishing. Though there is no requirement that attendees of our
group be members of the Houston Great Books Council, we like to remind
everyone now and then that we are affiliated with the Council and a
lot of good things come from that as Wendy explains in her email which
I have posted at:
http://www.houstonbookclubs.org/HoustonGreatBooks/welcomeByWendy.html
for anyone to read who might be interested.
Looking forward to next weeks discussion. Hope to see you there.
