Logo Summer Institute
an immersion in creative computing for K12 educators
July 8-11, 2024
New York City
We limit the number of participants to ensure that everyone has abundant resources and attention. Registration will close when we reach capacity or on June 30, whichever comes first. We encourage you to register now.
One of the areas for explorations,
activities, and projects will be
Robotics and Physical Computing,
which have long been a major part of the Logo Summer Institute. The robot
turtle, incorporated into Logo in the early 1970s was a groundbreaking way to
introduce robotics to young children. Today, we develop activities and projects
using a variety of platforms
· The Hummingbird Robotics Kit and Finch Robot from Birdbrain Technologies
· LEGO Spike Prime and Spike Essentials
· Vex Robotics
· micro:bit
· Adafruit’s Circuit Playground Express
· Lilypad
· Arduino
· CoDrone EDU
Robotics and Physical Computing provide a rich environment for integrating the maker experience with coding. Join us at the Logo Summer Institute where you can
· focus on engineering and design to create magnificent robots and wearable devices. Use craft materials, 3d printed parts and LEGO to construct your devices.
· focus on the programming to bring your devices to life by using sensors to activate lights and motors.
This summer we will explore how AI and
Machine Learning can be incorporated into programs that control Finch and
Hummingbird robots, and projects with the micro:bit
Robotics and Physical Computing are just part of what you can experience at the
Logo Summer Institute, along with stories and games, turtle geometry,
generative art, and more.
