R-STEM Summer 2026 Programs Are Now Open!

Applications and registration for Rice University Office of STEM Engagement (R-STEM) summer student programs are now live.

Each program has its own requirements and important details. Families are strongly encouraged to review program pages carefully before registering.


Elementary School

STEM-Letics Academy

A joint effort with Rice Athletics, STEM-Letics is a week-long academy for current 3rd–5th grade students that blends STEM learning with physical activity.


The C.H.E.F Lab (Creating Hands-on Experiments in Food Science)

In this one-week camp, current 4th and 5th graders explore food science through hands-on experiments that reveal the chemistry behind cooking.


Elementary & Middle School

STEAMotion

STEAMotion is a dynamic one-week academy for grades K–8 integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.


Elementary, Middle & High School

Rice STEAM Academies (STEAM-Up & Spark)

An immersive summer experience for grades 3–9 featuring creativity, innovation, and real-world problem-solving.


Middle School

Rice Computer Engineering Design Academy

A week-long program for current 6th–8th graders focused on Arduino, CAD programming, and rapid prototyping.


Forensics Investigators Program

A one-week program for grades 6–7 introducing forensic science, evidence analysis, toxicology, and DNA.


Middle & High School

Rice Bio Academies (Biotech & Biomed)

A lab-based program for grades 7–11 exploring biotechnology and biomedical science through real-world applications.


High School

Rice Architecture Summer Immersion

A hands-on architecture experience for current 10th–11th graders interested in design and spatial thinking.


Building Young Tech Engineers (BYTE!)

BYTE! introduces 9th-12th grade students to coding, microcontrollers, and hands-on engineering with Arduino.


Digital Health Workforce Initiative (DHWI)

paid summer opportunity for 9th–10th graders exploring biomedical hardware and AI in healthcare.
