Hello, I live in the galleria area and commute downtown for work.

I have a working Ardupilot Mega fixed wing drone and ground station.
I usually fly at George Bush Park out in the Katy area (but not Scobee
field... they hate foamies).

I had my first autopilot test last weekend and it all went well.

GCS sometime. I've been to George Bush Park, but never flown there.
Maybe we can arrange a fly day for one of these upcoming weekends. My
Arducopter is air worthy but until I get my parts from Ponoko it's
pretty much being held together with CA glue!

Hello,

Are you guys still flying?  I am also in the Galleria area.  I have a Skywalker 1680.  It would be really nice to hear from other FPV guys in the Houston or surrounding areas.  Like you said in the above post, I'm not sure we are welcome at Scobee field.

Alex,

I have been pulled away and too busy for the past year to fly my 3drobotics Y6.

Currently I am converting it to a X8 which will probably take me another 60 days before its done, or at least ready for a test flight.

From the posting dates on this group, I'd say its pretty much dead.

I would agree, the group is pretty much dead here. But there is a pretty lively FB group for the Houston area that I'm a part of. It's called the "South Texas - Houston Multi Rotors Quadcopters Drones FPV Group". https://www.facebook.com/groups/642246732516346/ Quite a few active members that like to get together and fly.

Thanks for the reply.  I have been eyeballing that X8 platform for a long time myself.  It looks like a really awesome FPV platform, my dream build for the last year or two.  One day it'll happen!  I'm going to check out that facebook group, thanks for the link.  

I also have a FPV quadcopter that I built from the ground up using a frame kit I got off hobbyking.  That was actually my first FPV interest, then flying times, distance and altitude got me really interested in planes.  

I haven't found any Houston specific groups on there but Google+ is a great way people have created community things.  I think that's like googles facebook.
