Announcing the last Housing GSD event of the year --
(right after the REAI award ceremony to Gerald Hines)
We've invited Daniel Gehman (Principal, Thomas Cox Architects) back, a great speaker from last year. This year he is speaking with developer Kevin Ratner (President, Forest City Residential) about their collaborations on recent adaptive reuse projects in California. The event will be moderated by Jack Nyman (Director, Newman Real Estate Institute at CUNY; GSD International Visiting Research Fellow '06).

Recycling Architecture: The Challenges and Opportunities of Adaptive Re-use
Kevin Ratner, President, Forest City Residential
Daniel Gehman, Principal, TCA Architects
Jack Nyman, Director, Newman Institute for Real Estate at City
University of New York (Moderator)
If development in general is not for the faint of heart, adaptive
re-use is definitely not. Hear stories from the trenches and join the
discussion with the Developer/Architect team responsible for several
significant Los Angeles area building conversions from abandoned
office towers to chic modern housing, including the award-winning
Metro 417 and 1100 Wilshire projects. Learn what makes it all
worthwhile, and how to get to the finish line.
