Thanks to Jordan Teague for sharing this, the first in a series of WASH Nutrition fact sheets by Generation Nutrition
Dear WASH and nutrition champions,
Generation Nutrition recently released a fact sheet on the role of WASH in the fight against undernutrition. WASH Advocates is excited to see this fact sheet, as it is one of only a few produced from the nutrition sector on the issue of WASH integration. The fact sheet has several recommendations for governments, service providers, donors, international institutions, and other actors from the field of WASH, child health, and nutrition:
- Integrate WASH into national nutrition policies, strategies and plans
- Include objectives on nutrition in national plans and programs for the WASH sector
- Develop and strengthen multi-sectoral action on the prevention of childhood undernutrition
- Promote flexible funding mechanisms which allow for investments across sectors
- Honor existing funding commitments made on WASH and nutrition
- Increase domestic and international funding for WASH
- Adopt a rights-based approach
Keep up the great work in the prevention of undernutrition, including through WASH! While, as you likely know, WASH Advocates is closing at the end of the year, I hope you will continue to view us as a resource for WASH integration over the next couple of months, and please keep in touch.
All the best,
Jordan
