Sorry for the late reply:
It was a lot of fun, a group of about 5 people and I were working on a top-down zombie survival shooter. We used a platform called Unity which is popular among individual game developers. One of our members used illustrator to create sprites and objects (houses, streets, bushes, etc) for our game, I was responsible for building the map where the player moves around, Tenzin and another member were responsible for the weapons (how to fire projectiles, how to know when the projectile hits a zombie) and the other two members worked on the architecture of our program.
I could only stay for 8 hours due to work and we didn't finish the game but I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. It was fun to work in a group , I just wish I could have stayed for the whole time.
Did I mention FOOD?? There was alot of zeeks pizza and chipotle there dinner. They also got fed breakfast each morning and there were tons of snacks and drinks and a designated sleeping bag area. The event coordinator said they do it 3 times per year I highly recommend going to one. There was also a good turnout of female attendees. There was a girl in our group and most of the other groups had at least one or two females. I even saw one group that was full of females so it was a nice mix and very laid back environment
