Hello, happy coders!

This week we're doing things a little bit differently.

Because my brain is utterly spent, we're going to stretch out #HourofCode to cover this whole week. That's right! All this week, myself (Molly) and our two Junior Coordinators (Terra & Stuart) will be checking this post regularly to help you with issues you're having, answer your questions, and just say hi!

First, please watch this short (16-minute) screencast about checking in this week:

This week, everyone should reply to this post with the following information:

1. How far have you gotten on Rails for Zombies?

2. Have you run into any issues trying to do the exercises? If so, what?

3. Do you have any questions about the material in Rails for Zombies?

4. What topics from the Rails videos get you excited? What makes you want to know more?

Please feel free to talk to each other, and offer advice, help, or sympathy. It's time for some community bonding! :D

Happy coding!

Hello, all!

In answer to the basic questions:

1.) I'm on Level 4 of Rails for Zombies. I still have to start the exercises for that Level. Ah, to have more time!

2.) Not so far!

3.) Not yet, but I want to review the videos from Levels 3 & 4. Those seemed to go by really fast.

4.) I'm excited about so much of this stuff! In general, I'm just excited about finally getting to spend some quality time with Ruby on Rails. I really like it so far, and it seems like it has a lot of really useful features.

I hope everyone is enjoying the Rails for Zombies videos, and learning more about RoR. Please let us know if you have any questions!

I look forward to hearing from you all this week! :)

Best,
-Molly

1.  I am on Level 3 of Rails for Zombies, I just got here but haven't attempted it yet

2.  None as of now

3.  Not yet

4.  I'm very interested in user interface and experience design, as well as learning how databases work on a deeper level. I was really excited to hear we would build a Twitter-like site

If anyone needs help or is stuck on anything please post here or we can meetup in hour of code where we can dig deep down into the CRUD :D

1. I am currently on level 3 still... But I will try to finish by today!
2. I did run into a problem in level 3 where I had to see f there where multiple tweets by a zombie. I didn't know there was a counter to keep track of all the tweets. I thought you had to check if the zombie_id in the tweets came up more then once. I had to use the hints to complete this exercise. I will post more problems I run into.
3. I don't have any questions but it bugs me that ruby code is mixed with html.
4. Creating different objects and linking them together. I watched a video on MySql and its table is really similar to the way rails for zombie is teaching it.
