Subject: SCARED BORDER COLLIE MIX IN NEED OF BEHAVIORAL RESCUE/FOSTER
Stone, an elegant black/white border collie mix is seeking an approved rescue/foster to help socialize him and work on his confidence. Stone came to BCAS as a stray and since being at the shelter, has been pretty shutdown and fearful. He was started on some behavior medication, and is responding well to behavior modification but is not doing well in a kennel and needs time away.
He is food motivated which helps, but he has a reluctancy to exit his kennel. Once out and in another space, he will open up some but still remains nervous. He was introduced to a dog friendly dog who he initially was too nervous to interact with but once outside, he showed some more interest. Once heading back inside, he regressed and started to try to flail back to stay out of the building. He has shown positive improvement with each day and interaction, but still could use some time away from this environment, whether with a rescue or foster. Descriptive behavioral notes are attached !
