Hidden Gem Project: Willow Takes on the Zip Trip!
Our Hidden Gem, Willow, had an amazing morning making new friends at WSPA Channel 7's Zip Trip! This sweet girl was a natural in front of the camera and absolutely loved soaking up all the attention. Willow didn't hesitate to strike a pose and snap a few photos with some of her newest friends, including Jamarcus Gaston, Megan Heidlberg, Fred Cunningham, and Olivia Donnelly.
If personality, charm, and photogenic talent counted as adoption requirements, Willow would have been scooped up long ago! Instead, she's still waiting patiently for someone to see what everyone who meets her already knows, that she's an absolute treasure. Willow loves people, enjoys making new friends, and is always ready for her next adventure. After all the smiles she shared this morning, we'd love nothing more than to see her posing for family photos in a home of her own. Come meet Willow and discover why she's one of our Hidden Gems. Her forever family has to be out there somewhere!

Name: WILLOW
Kennel ID: Adoption Floor
GAFFNEY, SC.
Hold Ends: Stray hold has ended. Needs help ASAP!
Breed: Hound x
Appearance: Tan/white
Gender: Spayed Female
Estimated Age: 10mths
Estimated Weight: 51.6lbs
Health: No obvious concerns. Heartworm (Negative).
Bio: Meet Willow! Now 10 months old, this sweet hound mix has the most expressive eyes, and they tell you everything she’s feeling without her making a sound. Willow is a gentle, easygoing girl who carries herself with a quiet, loving presence. She truly enjoys being around people and does well with other dogs, making her a wonderful companion for a variety of homes. Willow is continuing to build her confidence on a leash and is doing great. At this age, Willow is the perfect blend of playful and calm. She still has that puppy curiosity but is already showing the loyal, steady personality she’ll grow into. She’s ready to find her forever family and settle into the life she deserves.
Other Dogs: She tests well with other dogs. Video available by request.
Cats: Non-reactive. She is still a puppy, so we recommend using caution until she shows proper cat etiquette.
Children: We do not have kids to test with. We always recommend supervising children around dogs/puppies. Sometimes our dogs/puppies are active and might be too big for small children, and sometimes children can be too rough around them. Leash: She is doing well learning how to walk on a leash.
Additional Information: Shelter stray hold has ended.

We are putting out one last urgent plea for this group of dogs as we approach a hard deadline: we must have confirmed commitment and placement plans for them before July 1st.

Willow and Monkey are young, fun, and full of life. They have true rockstar personalities. They’ve done everything right in our care, and honestly, we are shocked they haven’t had a single inquiry or visit request while on our adoption floor. The other four April, Duke, Fern, and Hazel are our golden oldies. We’ve been holding onto hope that their stories wouldn’t end inside an open intake/impound shelter, but that hope is starting to fade as time runs short.

April and Duke are at the stage of life where they would benefit from dentals, but both still have so much love and life left to give the right home. Fern and Hazel are both heartworm positive, but there is a sponsorship offer in place to cover their HW treatments. Their care is supported, they just need a place willing to give them a chance.

We cannot emphasize enough that long-term “warehousing” of animals is not sustainable. It is not fair to them, and it is not fair to the other animals left out in the street suffering and waiting for the opportunity to be helped. Shelter life is stressful, and even the best care cannot replace a home environment.

If you are a rescue partner, adopter, or someone who can step up in any capacity, please consider someone from this group of dogs. Even sharing their story could be the connection that changes everything.
