Hi, folks!

A few requests (thank you!) but no adoptions at the shelter today, only intakes. :( Please take a look at the wonderful pups below and let us know if you can help.

Warmest Wags,
The HTAR Team

Happy Tails Animal Rescue of Washington County, VA
Located: Abingdon, VA

Ozzy - Husky/Boxer mix, brindle, male, ~1y, 48lbs. Ozzy is a genuinely handsome fellow with a great disposition to match - friendly, treat motivated, and easy to handle despite having just been surrendered, which speaks well of his temperament. He walks nicely on the leash and was an all-around pleasure to spend time with. Ozzy appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as an owner surrender.

Scout - Pittie mix, grayish brown/white, male, 4-6y, 38lbs. Scout was absolutely pitiful when he came to the shelter – so thin, boney, and completely terrified. After some TLC from shelter staff, he’s blossomed into the outgoing, friendly boy that met us today! Waggy and rolly, very enthusiastic about new friends and not at all shy about showing it - especially if a belly rub is on the table, which he is strongly in favor of. He also walks great on the leash, rounding out an already very appealing package. Scout appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as a stray.

Crazy Eights Litter - 8 Hound mix puppies; 4 tan and 4 black/tan; 4M/4F, 2-3 months, 5-15lbs each. Eight puppies. EIGHT! This supersized, super cute, super friendly, super curious litter is a lot of adorable all at once - and every single one of them is well-socialized and eager to make friends with anyone who stops by. 🐾 The whole crew has received their first DHPP at the shelter and appears overall healthy. They came to the shelter as strays. 8/11 UPDATE: 3 puppies remaining, 2 males and 1 female.

Brinker - All-American Mutt mix, red/white, male, 2-4y, 50lbs. Brinker played it a little shy at first, but it didn't take long for his true colors to come through - and what emerged is a rolly, goofy, affectionate sweetheart with a serious passion for belly rubs and absolutely no shame about it. 🥰 Brinker appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as a stray.

Hayden - Aussie mix, white/black, male, ~1y, 21lbs. SPECIAL NEEDS - SUSPECTED HEARING IMPAIRED. Hayden is a suspected double merle dog and will need a patient, knowledgeable place to land - but what they'll get in return is one of the friendliest, most affectionate lovebugs you can imagine. This boy has absolutely no idea he's supposed to have limitations and doesn’t seem to meet any strangers. He does have some hair loss around his neck from likely flea dermatitis but appears otherwise in good condition. Additionally, he does have at least SOME vision but we’re unable to say exactly how much. Hayden came to the shelter as a stray.

Era - Malinois mix, black, female, 8-10y, 40lbs. Era is an absolute gem - curious, friendly, and go-with-the-flow in the most wonderful way, with a relaxed waggy tail and a sweet, easygoing energy that has made her a firm shelter staff favorite. She has a few small healing scars and some areas of patchy hair loss (additional photos available on request) and could use a dental, but none of that dims her considerable shine one bit. Era came to the shelter as an owner surrender.

Mickey - Hound mix, tricolor, male, 2-4y, 45lbs. Mickey is a chill, waggy, go-with-the-flow kind of guy with the long legs and handsome bearing of a dog who knows he looks good. He could use some help with leash manners, but otherwise he's a relaxed and pleasant fellow who takes the world as it comes. Mickey appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as a stray.

Florence - Hound mix, tricolor with dapple, female, 6-8y, 48lbs. Florence is a relaxed, friendly, treat motivated sweetheart with a waggy tail and a thoroughly pleasant disposition. Such a nice temperament! She came in with a slight limp from a leg injury sustained before intake - photos available on request - but is healing and doing well. A lovely, easygoing girl. Florence came to the shelter as a stray.

Snack - Shepherd mix, black/tan, male, ~1y, 36lbs. Snack starts out a little shy but don't let that fool you - give him a moment and this handsome young dog comes right out of his shell and gets down to business. He's excellent on the leash, stays focused on his handler's cues, and throws in a very nice sit just to show off a little. A genuinely impressive young dog with a lot going for him. Snack appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as an owner surrender.
