Chance has been participating in the Gentle & Dainty playgroup, and while he’s still a bit of a mystery, what we do know so far is encouraging. He’s curious about his surroundings and semi-engaged, taking things in at his own pace. As volunteers get to know him better, we’re eager to learn more about this big guy and what he’s like outside the shelter environment.
 
Update 1/25: "Look at that underbite! Volunteers met a chance yesterday and he did very well meeting Gino on the leash. They said he’s a chill guy. A little playful, but also gentle. What a sweetie!"

This handsome, athletic guy is strong, energetic, and clearly built for an active lifestyle. Gino enjoys being on the move and would do well with an adopter or foster who appreciates walks, playtime, and continuing his training. He already knows “sit,” has dabbled in agility-style activities, and is very treat-motivated, making him a great candidate for learning more.
Gino went potty like a total pro and enjoys chewing on appropriate toys. He’s polite about sharing them, and when he met another dog through the fence, he offered a brief greeting before deciding his toys were far more interesting. Priorities.
He could use some continued work on leash manners and still needs to fill out a bit, but Gino brings plenty of potential, personality, and playful energy to the table right now.

Havana is a 5-year-old female with striking bi-colored eyes that immediately draw you in and hint at a bit of Husky in her mix. She has a strong, confident presence and is very much led by her nose — this girl loves to sniff, explore, and take in the world around her.
Havana is strong on leash and curious about her surroundings. She is highly treat-motivated and takes treats very gently, making her easy to engage and rewarding to work with. In the big yard, she spent her time smelling all the smells and watching everything happening around her, showing off her inquisitive and alert nature.
It appears Havana was used for breeding in the past. Despite that, she carries herself with independence and curiosity and seems ready for a new chapter. She would benefit from an experienced handler who appreciates a confident dog and is prepared to provide structure, enrichment, and purposeful outings.

In the big pen, Kenzo has shown that he loves toys and has happily played with just about everything offered to him. With his puppy energy, affectionate nature, and eagerness to please, he would do well in a home ready to provide structure, training, and plenty of positive outlets.

Built like a classic scent hound, he has big floppy ears, a long lean body, and a tail that curls sweetly at the tip. His brindle coat with bright white markings — long white socks in the front and adorable little “toe socks” in the back — makes him truly eye-catching.
Rufus walks nicely on leash and takes treats like a true gentleman. He isn’t especially into toys, but don’t let that fool you — this boy is busy doing what he loves best: sniffing. In the yard, his nose stayed glued to the ground like he was tracking a trail, making him a dream companion for someone who enjoys long, exploratory walks or scent-work style activities.
He confidently trotted right up the ramp and happily sat for a treat, showing he’s food-motivated and eager to work with his person. Rufus proudly knows “sit” and will happily perform in exchange for snacks. He’s easygoing, curious, and content to explore the world at his own thoughtful pace.
Rufus does enjoy chasing toys — right up until he suddenly remembers there are far more interesting smells nearby. He even tried his paw at agility-style activities and capped things off with a surprise high-jump grand finale — a solid 10/10 performance. When something smells extra tasty, Rufus does the cutest little chomps, followed closely by kisses and friendly enthusiasm.

Sweet Heart can get a little excited at times and may jump up, so she would benefit from basic manners training and plenty of appropriate outlets for her energy. With structure, consistency, and rewards (did we mention she loves treats?), she’s eager to learn.

Earlier playgroup observations described Sweet Heart as tolerant, steerable, and semi-engaged. She was also noted to be hormonally motivated, which is common in intact dogs - and she will be spayed prior to adoption, which generally helps these behaviors. During a later playgroup, she was involved in an incident where she was bitten by another dog; she has since recovered fully. More recent notes indicate she may prefer space from other dogs, and she is currently marked “no playgroup.”
Sweet Heart may do best as a single-dog household or with slow, thoughtful introductions after decompression.
